Clapham Yard Panel

Introduction

This panel is located in the shunter's cabin at Clapham but is included in the simulation to show the big picture of train movements in the Clapham area. This panel has times of intense workload and other times of very little to do. If there are insufficient people in a multiplayer game to take all the panels then it is suggested to combine this with Panel 1 as that is the quieter of panels 1 and 2.

Signalling Notes

All signals are ground position light signals (ie shunt signals). Movements are slow, 10 to 15mph maximum, though through the carriage washer trains are limited to 3mph regardless of whether the washer is active or not.

Routes entirely within the green box area for Clapham Yard are completely under your control and thus no slots or releases are required. Routes at the east (left) end are dual controlled with Wimbledon but have been segregated into Clapham Yard and Wimbledon signals respectively for simulation purposes. Routes at the east end do not need any slots or releases.

If reversing a train in siding 1 from the station to/from the yard, note that this can only take 8 cars of a typical multiple unit. Reversing a longer train will require a route set through the carriage washer, though the train will only partially take the route, meaning once the train has gone, you will need to cancel the route from CY2 as the train would not have operated the train operated route release with its partial occupation. The train description will also need manually moving, and ARS will not be able to deal with this situation.
