Simulation Operation

The following notes will allow you to operate the simulation in a more professional manner.

East Grinstead Auto Working

The signaller at Oxted has the ability to allow the signalling equipment to automatically route trains to and from platform number 2 at East Grinstead. This is activated by left clicking on the auto button. In order to take the system out of auto working the user needs to left click on the manual indicator. Cancelling of either the route into or out of platform 2 will result in the auto working being restored to manual operation.

Uckfield Train Describer

Due to the departure berth at Uckfield being hidden with no means of interposing the following method of operation will apply. Once the previous service has left the track circuit covering Uckfield station the user can then interpose a new description into the set up berth and then press the interpose roundel. This will then step the identity into the hidden departure berth at Uckfield station. When the train arrives the description will step into the arrival berth.

Hurst Green Shunt Move

The daily shunt move at Hurst Green is planned to operate as follows. Once the empty stock arrives from Selhurst Depot to form this service, it is booked to run to Hurst Green Junction and stops once the train is clear of 312 shunt signal. Once the driver has changed ends the train then proceeds into the Up platform.

Loco Hauled Speed Restrictions.

Various speed restrictions apply specifically to loco-hauled trains in the Oxted area. In order to simulate this, you will need to tick the 'Loco-Hauled' box in the train characteristics section of the timetable editor. Also, if you know that a train is running with a Class 66, you should tick the 'Sim 1' box in the editor.

Additional train describer berths

It should be noted that the Oxted signalman has got a couple of odd TD berths, which are not associated with signals. The first is a berth at Cowden station, which all descriptions will step in and out of. The step out of this berth is activated by departure from the station. The other odd looking step follows departure from Crowborough, where Up train descriptions will step into a berth at Eridge station. Again, the step out of this berth is triggered by departure from the station.

Siding Lengths

Crowborough engineers siding (While overgrown) can accommodate trains of up to 110m in length.
