Approach Berth

Approach Berth

An approach berth is a special berth that shows a train approaching from another signalbox (or another panel in the same signalbox), but which is not linked to a particular signal. An approach berth might show trains several signal sections away, thus giving the signaller plenty of warning of an approaching trains.

Sometimes there is more than one approach berth, usually labelled 1st, 2nd, etc.

IECCs , and therefore SimSig, often label such berths as APPR, short for Approach.

See also Train Describer Berth and Queue Berth .
