Welcome to the SimSig Hosting Email Notifications, or SHEN for short.
This system has been set up to allow Hosts to circulate notification of a forthcoming multiplayer game to those players that have requested being on the circulation list.
A Host, as well as placing a post on the Hosting page of the forum, will send the relevant details via SHEN to those users on the list; they may have to refer to the forum to get full details of IP address and ports.
Users who wish to be placed on the circulation list should use the sign up form Here which is hosted by Google Docs
Ensure you have posted in the forums first, otherwise an email will be sent to you and your email removed from the notifications.
The subject should contain: SIMSIG HOSTING: (Sim name) (start time). Please follow the hosting template which can be found elsewhere on the SimSig forum.
Ideally copy/paste the link to the part of the hosting forum relating to your post.
Send the Notification email to hosting(at)welshdragon(dot)headweb(dot)co(dot)uk
Please note your email will appear in the 'from' box, if your e-mail client supports 'reply to' please use it. You will have a receipt sent to you, letting you know the server has received the email.
Only send 3 emails per game, one to say you have started and one to say you have finished, the third is a spare, and can be used if there is an important change.
Note that you are to not reply to the sender or the emails you receive.
Remember, SHEN is primarily to notify clients of a forthcoming multiplayer game, other communications should be done via the forum.
This system has been set up by Mark Jones, aka welshdragon on the forums, contact him with any comments or suggestions.
It is hoped to set up an advanced bouncer in the future.
These are the guidelines, they are also available on the SimSig Forum. Thank you in advance for joining the SHEN, I hope it will be a helpful resource for you.
