TOPIC: Hiya.

Hiya. 08 Feb 2012 06:41 #1

I am new to Simsig but not new to these sort of games. I am a little bored of Rail Controller now so am looking for something new. Can someone tell me which is the best and most complicated free download there is?

Another question is I have just downloaded the service file. I need to download one of the towns in the same folder to start?

If I like what I see, I will donate.

Thankyou for reading.

Edit: Looking at the chat, I see that there is a multiplayer function. Do I need to download anything special for that or just download the same city?
Last Edit: 08 Feb 2012 06:52 by Spike2454. Reason: Another question to be added about multiplayer.

Welcome to SimSig :) . Yes after downloading and installing the system file, all you need to do is download one of the 'towns' and install it. After this, you should be able to play that one by opening the application for that town.

Someone of stronger experience than myself should be able to answer your other questions.
Playing KX (Hertford diversion), Southampton, and Swindon A&B.
Next stop: St Denys.

Have played Bristol, Exeter, Saltley, Kings X, Euston, Llangollen, Oxted (beta), Drain, Royston, Cambridge, Lime St, Peterborough, Wembley Sub, Sth Humberside, Swindon A&B, Gloucester, Worksop, and Ctrl Scotland.

My favourites are Bristol, Exeter and Sheffield.

The most complex, based on how difficult they are for one person to operate, are King's Cross, Edinburgh, Trent and Saltley (in my experience of course).

A good sim to learn something about SimSig is SwinDid in my opinion. :) But Bristol and Exeter are my favorites too.

Hi Spike, welcome to Simsig. I started with a run on Royston to pick up the basics and now enjoy Lime Street, Exeter among others. Haven't plucked up courage to try Saltley and KingsX yet. They're real biggies. There's loads of help and advice on here and you'll always find answers to problems, big or small. Enjoy :)
Mal.
How long will the next train to Redditch be? Three coaches sir.

A lot of your questions will be answered if you spend a little bit of time in wandering round the SimSig Wiki; there is a link in the Menu box towards the top left of the screen. You can try your hand at something challenging like Saltley or Kings Cross but in all honesty you would be better in trying one of the less challenging simulations first to make sure you have got your head round what is going on.

Funnily enough, I can't do Saltley much past 07:00 on my own, but I can run a modern King's Cross TT on my own all day. Isn't that weird? I tried KC 1977 on my own once, and collapsed from brain failure at 06:35. That really IS the ultimate TT.

Multiplayer just works, provided each player has the same binary - different versions of the same simulation won't necessarily work with each other.
