I'm currently learning Cambridge after learning Exeter fully :) I've noticed I have a train which divides in platform 5 at Cambridge. Would the station shunter (Class 08) be propelling it into the platform or would it actually be hauling it properly and stop on the buffers when it arrives on platform 5?

As far as SimSig is concerned, it makes no difference to any divides/detaches, front/rear applies to the direction of the train as it arrives at the location.

From Train Activities on WIKI:"With divides at a terminal station (or with a reversal), the front/rear is related to the direction of arrival ie the DF: part is at the buffers, DR: at departure end."

You can establish what the configuration is by following the next moves through the TT. When the train arrives at P5, you will probably have two actions showing in the TT. One will be a detach (with the headcode of the next movement) and the other will be the next movement of the remaining portion - in some cases there will be a detach and then the remaining portion continues on its journey, but in general, at dead-end platfoms there will be a detach, then a next train.

If you then look at the TT through f4, you can see which of the "new" trains moves first and use that to work out whether the shunter is going off to the TC or loco siding first, or whether a light engine is going to drop onto the train and take it away, leaving the shunter at the buffers. You can't tell from the TT of the original train which way round it is, although you may be able to work it out from the previous movements.
