Roadrunner: KX closed at 3 AM. Time for some zeds! Goodnight all.
arabianights: More to the point - for the lazy reader - KX connecting now at ten to midnight :)
Roadrunner: Apologies-please reconnect to KX.
arabianights: erm I suppose that goes back to 1st world problems
arabianights: if the meals were from COOK or something I would unequivocally have them, but alas they are from not waitrose, not even M&S, heck not even Tesco - but from the CO OP!!!
Roadrunner: KX 1985 open.
arabianights: still, the even greater simplicity of just sticking something in the microwave an piercing it a little bit shouldn't be understimated
arabianights: (ok sausages and chips is not haute cuisine but these are greate sausages and great chips)
arabianights: the sausage/chip thing is much better quality but also marginally more effort
arabianights: I will decide in about half an hour
Roadrunner: Option B!
arabianights: (not exactly culinary challenges)
arabianights: (for those keeping score, option A is microwave a curry ready meal. option B is cook some sausages and deep fry some chips, then add ketchup to taste...)
arabianights: I still need to work out what I will have for supper but that may take me more than an hour - don't worry though cause the two options both require very little "cooking"
arabianights: okliy dokily
Roadrunner: Give me 10 mins to set-up.
Roadrunner: People have been discouraged in the past from using the chat box.
Temple Meads: There's 28 people online, a KX game should work
arabianights: (heck if you relied on chat probably no game wouold ever start :D )
jishmondo: Maybe tomorrow if anything's going on
arabianights: worth starting a game and seieng if anyone turns up no?
arabianights: a lot of players don't seem to say anything in chat
Roadrunner: I would need more players, DJ.
Roadrunner: Pity, JM. Never mind-hope to see you next time.
arabianights: that said I'm cool with starting the game with any other panel :)
arabianights: sure but I didn't really know what was going on, I think the only way I can get that is to do it from zero time
jishmondo: Would love to play but I have work early tomorrow :(
Roadrunner: You did fine last time. Remember, 3 platforms were closed!
arabianights: I screwed it up big time last time but I reckon I can do it if I start from scratch...
arabianights: how about starting 1985 from beginning with me working cross
arabianights: actually, if it's just you and me in chat
arabianights: uh oh
Roadrunner: I have the saves from 1985.
arabianights: (my upload would probably struggle with it amongst other reasons)
arabianights: in *theory* I could do it but believe me I am not a sensible first choice
Roadrunner: haha. Hosty wosty. Nice new word.

Hi,

I am currently working on a fantasy timetable for the Severn Beach Line in the Bristol sim. I am wondering if, once I finish the work, someone might be interested in integrating it into a playable Bristol timetable? Here is an idea of what I have come up with:

Scenario
The year is 2017. The Portishead line has, through a partnership between Netowrk Rail, North Somerset Council and the Great Western franchisee, been reopened to passenger traffic. In addition, the campaign for a half-hourly daytime train service, with more evening services, along the Severn Beach line has paid off. Network Rail has also helped out by making the Henbury loop (Hallen Marsh Junction - Filton West Junction) useable for passenger trains once again. This has opened up an improved service which has ensured that the frequency of daytime trains to / from Severn Beach is doubled and there is also a service, particularly useful at peak times, linking the stations along the Severn Beach line with Filton Abbeywood. This TT is an idea of what the service might look like.

There are now two train services using the line:

1. Severn Beach - Avonmouth - Clifton Down - Stapleton Road - Lawrence Hill - Bristol TM - Portishead
Monday to Saturday daytimes: hourly service throughout. Evening service: every 90 minutes. Sunday service: hourly.

2. Bristol Parkway - Filton Abbeywood - Avonmouth - Clifton Down - Stapleton Road - Lawrence Hill - Bristol TM
Monday to Saturday daytimes: hourly service throughout. No evening or Sunday service.

The two train services form an overall half-hourly frequency between St. Andrews Road and Bristol TM using the passing loops at Avonmouth and Clifton Down.

If anyone is interested in trying to integrate the above into an existing real TT for the Bristol sim then give me a message and, once I am done with creating it, I will pass the TT on. The file is being created in MS Excel 2000 for info.

HTH,
Dave

Dave, what Bristol TT were you thinking of integrating it with?

Have you looked at my Greater Bristol Metro v2.61 timetable? The built in line speeds in the Bristol simulation make the half hour service through to Severn Beach rather difficult to achieve.

The half hourly service applies Hallen Marsh Junction - Bristol Temple Meads only: there is one train per hour to / from Severn Beach and one train per hour to / from Bristol Parkway and Filton Abbey Wood but both services use the St. Andrews Road - Temple Meads route.

I did a lot of work on it last night and it is now near finished: if you want a look then let me know.

Dave - I have a timetable under construction with this

XX:10 Bristol Temple Meads - Severn Beach

XX:40 Bristol Temple Meads - Bristol Parkway via Avonmouth

This service means full capacity on the Severn Beach Line so I couldnt fit your tt in. Sorry

Damn. Someone got there first! That means the only difference with my idea is that the Severn Beach trains run through to Portishead: sorry for not saying so earlier.

Its a TT I've had in development for a long time now, with the Severn Beach's being done by Tristan. Need to make use of the Easter break to really finish it off though.

Yours is an interesting idea though - particularly reversing at Filton Abbey Wood rather than going straight through the middle! Could make things quite interesting fitting in with other services!

Having finished the fantasy timetable, I have uploaded it for anyone interested:
http://www.btinternet.com/~dcharries/sbl_fantasytt.xls

Thoughts welcome. You will need MS Excel to open the file.

Seems like a good base plan for a timetable.

As for getting a unit to Parkway in a morning you could either run it ECS, or an early morning service towards Gloucester or Cardiff could drop it off.
