Turn off/on Sound Smileys History FAQ Kide Chat
Roadrunner: KX closed at 3 AM. Time for some zeds! Goodnight all.
arabianights: More to the point - for the lazy reader - KX connecting now at ten to midnight :)
Roadrunner: Apologies-please reconnect to KX.
arabianights: erm I suppose that goes back to 1st world problems
arabianights: if the meals were from COOK or something I would unequivocally have them, but alas they are from not waitrose, not even M&S, heck not even Tesco - but from the CO OP!!!
Roadrunner: KX 1985 open.
arabianights: still, the even greater simplicity of just sticking something in the microwave an piercing it a little bit shouldn't be understimated
arabianights: (ok sausages and chips is not haute cuisine but these are greate sausages and great chips)
arabianights: the sausage/chip thing is much better quality but also marginally more effort
arabianights: I will decide in about half an hour
Roadrunner: Option B!
arabianights: (not exactly culinary challenges)
arabianights: (for those keeping score, option A is microwave a curry ready meal. option B is cook some sausages and deep fry some chips, then add ketchup to taste...)
arabianights: I still need to work out what I will have for supper but that may take me more than an hour - don't worry though cause the two options both require very little "cooking"
arabianights: okliy dokily
Roadrunner: Give me 10 mins to set-up.
Roadrunner: People have been discouraged in the past from using the chat box.
Temple Meads: There's 28 people online, a KX game should work
arabianights: (heck if you relied on chat probably no game wouold ever start :D )
jishmondo: Maybe tomorrow if anything's going on
arabianights: worth starting a game and seieng if anyone turns up no?
arabianights: a lot of players don't seem to say anything in chat
Roadrunner: I would need more players, DJ.
Roadrunner: Pity, JM. Never mind-hope to see you next time.
arabianights: that said I'm cool with starting the game with any other panel :)
arabianights: sure but I didn't really know what was going on, I think the only way I can get that is to do it from zero time
jishmondo: Would love to play but I have work early tomorrow :(
Roadrunner: You did fine last time. Remember, 3 platforms were closed!
arabianights: I screwed it up big time last time but I reckon I can do it if I start from scratch...
arabianights: how about starting 1985 from beginning with me working cross
arabianights: actually, if it's just you and me in chat
arabianights: uh oh
Roadrunner: I have the saves from 1985.
arabianights: (my upload would probably struggle with it amongst other reasons)
arabianights: in *theory* I could do it but believe me I am not a sensible first choice
Roadrunner: haha. Hosty wosty. Nice new word.

The basic timetable is still 99% intact but I have added several totally fictional services just to add variety, such as Baldock to Gordon Hill shuttles and extra freight services. Please do not treat these additions seriously as they are workings which would not have happened in reality. It is my first ever attempt at submitting a timetable so am not even sure if the link will work as I am no whizzkid with a computer but I will give it a try.

Hi,

I have finally got around to trying this Tt out. It is rather too much for one person once the rush hour starts but would probly be fine as a multiplay game.

One big issue thougt is with up trains that terminate at WGC platform 1 and then go to WGC 3 or 4 and become up trains.

The timetable reads something like:

WELWYN GARDEN CITY PL1
WELWYN REVERSING SIDINGS
WELWYN GARDEN CITY 3 (or 4).

The middle location should be:

WELWYN GARDEN CITY NORTH REVERSE SIDING

WELWYN REVERSING SIDING is on the up side of WGC pl1 and so the shunt cannot be made form ther.

Apologies if I have not got the exact TT details, buit I am posting form work and don't have the TT to hand.

I don't really see the problem - just route ifrom P1 to the Siding, then from the Reversing Siding to P3 or P4. I've just checked and Simsig accepts the routes without question.

Danny252 is correct. Route is either;

Signal 608 -> Signal 598 -> 'grey exit triangle'
or
Signal 608 -> Shunt Signal 170 -> Shunt Signal 168 -> Signal 598 -> 'grey exit triangle'

then once the train is there wait until booked departure time then you can set the route as

Shunt Signal 165 -> Shunt Signal 167 -> Shunt Signal 171 -> Signal 603 (Platform 4) or Signal 605 (Platform 3)

as timetabled.

It is however interesting to note that it seems possible to set Shunt Signal 165 -> Shunt Signal 171, I know about Preset Shunts but I didn't think it worked from Shunt Signal to Shunt Signal?

Preset shunts does only work when routing from main to main signal, except when the author of the sim has programmed an exception.

Yes....that is why I saidUKTrainMan wrote:

and even linked to the page about Preset Shunts which pretty much says the same as you've said.

You put a '?' behind your last sentence. That's why I answered.

Ah, right. I put the '?' there because I didn't think it should be possible Shunt Signal to Shunt Signal. I shall may edit that part of my original post later to make my doubts clearer.

Thanks.

Sounds more like a 'long route' (i.e. setting two or more routes at once) - the principle of preceding shunts only really applies to a route from a main aspect where, by definition of the latter, any intervening shunt signals must be cleared first. Obviously that requirement doesn't apply to routes from shunt signals, though there could well be some exceptions for various operational reasons I suppose.
