A very sad thing to have happened. And a crying shame for the DMU preservation movement.

So sorry to hear about this. Vandalism and arson is a problem for heritage railways up and down the country. Last year a vandal smashed the windows of carriages at the Royal Deeside Line, Aberdeenshire. It will cost a lot of money to have them replaced. The bottom line is really to have all stock inside a secure building as they are so unique they will attract attention. Anything out of the ordinary tends to attract the wrong attention.
