Hi all,

Just to say that I am currently trying to pick out all the extra trains that serve Bristol and which are being laid on for the Olympics. I so far have several so I will carry on looking for a bit.

I picked out one interesting one. These extras give arrival times only, no departure times. I am noting the arrival times: it could be an interesting excuse for a Bristol Olympics TT so I will advise when I have got the gen and then supply the times I have for anyone who fancies compiling an Olympics TT for the Bristol sim.

There is one loco hauled set (Cl 67) booked for a Paddington to Cardiff, apparently leaving at 0200 but I can't find such in Open Train Times, but it's sitting in Old Oak anyway.

The 0705 Cardiff to Weymouth might be arrival times only as it's Pick Up Only from Cardiff right through to Maiden Newton, which will sound odd on the annoucement at Cardiff as advertised non-stop to Maiden Newton!!!

I'm doing a August 2012 WTT for Kings Cross/Cambridge/Peterborough areas at the moment then I'll probably move onto the Western sims, but of someone else wants to do Bristol August 2012, it'll save me a job and I can do neighbouring sim WTT's for those not covered yet.

I'll also pop down to the local station (Trowbridge) Tuesday and Wednesday to see what this 0705 Cardiff - Weymouth is formed of.

The Cl67 is a standby train which runs ECS from Wembley to Padd, and sits on standby if required. Formed 67 & 8 Riviera Mk1 & 2's

I don't know what is forming it but the other day I did see more out-iof-use rolling stock than usual parked in the siding at Bristol TM next to Platform 1.

On an interesting note the current Weymouth - Bristol TT shows an FGW Weymouth - London Paddington working! Seems to be a regular timetabled service rather than an Olympic special. Dep. Weymouth 0533 calling Upwey, Dorchester West, Maiden Newton, Chetnole(x), Yetminster(x), Thornford(x), Yeovil Pen Mill, Castle Cary and Westbury. A strange working, IMO, as there is no return Paddington - Weymouth trip. x = Request stop.

Would make a nice sight going through some of those places en-route but I think this is a typo by FGW!! A pity as an HST would make a nice sight going through some of those places.

Hmm, think you're right! According to this - www.opentraintimes.com/schedule/C21632/2012/8/8 it terminates at Bristol Parkway. There's a Paddington train 2 mins behind it, but I doubt FGW would ever advertise anything that tight as a connection, anyway, it would probably be quicker to change at Castle Cary or Bath.

Hi all,

A quick update.

Just to say that, after a few hours work, I so far have 14 extra trains relating to the Olympics of which all, bar three, are passenger workings: there is a dead working from Bristol as well. The extra trains include late-night workings as well as late evening ones.

Of these trains:

3 serve Bristol Parkway only
2 serve both Bristol TM and Bristol Parkway
8 serve Bristol TM only (including 3 dead workings)
1 is a reversing move at Cardiff but it relates to 2 other workings.

I should soon be done with compiling the list of trains but I will check a couple of them: I am busy obtaining the full WTTs for these trains and will then supply them to anyone who fancies making a playable London 2012 TT for the Bristol sim.

Found it. Said loco turn is 0315 Paddington to Cardiff Cl 67 hauled. Quite a few overnight loco stuff about, 2 on the WCML and another 2 on the ECML, some overnight trips almost like overnight bashing in the 80s!

Weymouth will be busy after the Olympics as well because the carnival has been moved back from August due to the Sailing events taking place there

This starts to get confusing! On 31st July train 1C37 was the 0030 Paddington - Exeter St. Davids but, on 28th July, train 1C37 left Paddington at 0200. I, however, am basing my train TTs on weekday workings not weekend ones in order to avoid confusion.

However, if Underwood (or anyone else) happens to have the dates that the 0315 Paddington - Cardiff ran I may try and find a way of adding it in if there is not a code clash.

Apart from the nights of the opening and closing ceremonies, 1c37 is at 0030 to Exeter and 1C38 is at 0100 to Cardiff, along with 2 extras to Oxford at 0037 and 0130. On the nights of the opening and closing ceremonies they run later at 0200 and 0230. Also don't forget the extras for football at the Millenium Stadium, there were 4 extras to London at around 2230 last night as well as a number for Bristol as well.
