Title
Bristol 2009 fictional Filton diversions
Description

Originally posted by Thesignalbox. Hi all, I have just finished my fictional 2009 summer timetable for Bristol, which sees Filton station closed and services diverted via Avonmouth, here is the description of the Timetable: This is my first released Timetable for Bristol, so my apologies if there are any errors. Based on the time when Filton was closed for re-development, I have created this diversion TT due to engineering in the Filton area. Most services will be terminating short and generally only FGW long distance and XC services will be diverted via Clifton. Here is a breakdown of services included: FGW (High Speed) - Paddington - Bristol/South Wales/South West are unaffected by the Filton Closure. Only the 04:40 BTM - Paddington and 22:30 Paddington to Cardiff are diverted via Avonmouth, along with ECS moves to Cheltenham Spa and Hereford. Most of the Cheltenham ECS HST's will come from Landore (Swansea) instead, due to the extra duration of diverting empty stock movements. Some services will start and end at Weston-super-Mare in the peak hours, and one at mid-day. There is only 1 HST via Bristol to Penzance, and 2 on the return, the rest going the faster and more direct way via Westbury. South Wales recieves the normal hourly saturday service of one train per hour in each way to and from Swansea. Following the discussion with the DfT, Fishguard HST's will only run on Monday to Friday, so there is no service on a Saturday...yet. Swansea and Bristol now recieve much later services back to London for those wanting extra time at the city or more time to get to the city, arriving later into the capital. * FGW (Local) - Most FGW units will be diverted via Avonmouth where paths are available. All Portsmouth - Cardiff services will be diverted and will additionally call at Patchway to drop off/pick up pilots. Taunton to Cardiff services will terminate at BTM and most weymouth services will end at BTM, some carrying on to Gloucester/Great Malvern. To cover the loss of Gloucester/Cardiff stoppers, hourly Gloucester to Cardiff shuttles every hour will be in operation. Some diverted services will also call at Clifton Down and Avonmouth, mainly as they are waiting for a service to clear the single line so passengers can alight or join the service. An early and late night service will also serve all stations to Avonmouth when paths are free. Pilning sees an improved service with a new bus service that is now in operation from the local areas to the station. This is actually an experiment from the local authority to encourage passengers to use the train. The bus links with services that call there. This will hopefully be succesful and should improve the station as it is currently isolated from nearby villages. BTM to Severn beach services are replaced by busses throught the day to allow diverted services to use the line. However some paths have been kept free mainly in case of delays and also gives the BAC a chance to use the taxiway level crossing. There could be a complete hourly Gloucester service squeezed in but I doubt the BAC would be able to even let a vehicle over the crossing! FGW are also experimenting a Severn Beach to Portishead service, but of course today these will be starting at BTM, and run every two hours non stop to Portishead. If it was succesfull the service would be every hour, Of course the main obstacle is the token system at Ashton which is time consuming for the service. FGW are also leasing a 67 set for a Weymouth diagram for extra seats. Another 67 set is running between Cardiff - Gloucester, which is usually used on Taunton services, due to a lack of units they have. * Arriva CrossCountry - AXC are running the usual hourly North - South cross country runs via Avonmouth. Some voyagers are paired to make 8, 9 or 10 cars. The XC HST sets will also be out along with a hired in NXEC set for the summer Nequay diagram. Bristol to/from Newcastle services will not be running due to the lack of paths to be able to run on the single line diversion. Services are running from Newcastle every hour but will terminate at Gloucester instead. * South West Trains - SWT services are revised to run in between the revised FGW local services, but they are unaffected from being diverted. 5 services each way will be running, 1 to and from Salisbury, 4 to and from London Waterloo. * Freight - All freight to Portbury will not run due to the blockade, and freight trains from Westbury to South Wales are diverted via Swindon. The Avonmourh - Didcot coal services are unaffected. For any comments/suggestions etc please see the thread for this TT in the Timetable Comments section
