Hi folks, probably a bit of a left field question, as I'd guess there aren't that many of us running Simsig on Macs?

The standalone sims generally ran okay under Crossover on a Mac (and likewise under Wine on other Unix environments), but I've only this weekend started running loader-based sims under Crossover.

Not having a good experience. Generally getting crashing in rtl60.bpl, and the train list just won't work... generally end up having to force quit the bottle (the virtual environment) that the loader is running in.

Have tried in winxp, win7 and win8 Crossover bottles, but get the same sort of issues.

Be interested what experience others who run Simsig under Crossover have had?

Cheers,
Mike

For F2 you'll need some kind of HTML rendering engine, have you installed IE/Gecko?

Crossover seems to have some bits of IE built into the bottle but maybe not enough. I've installed Firefox to the bottle, lets give that a spin.

Nope even with an HTML rendering engine installed, no joy.

Attempts to show the train list, get a "Can't find <body > element." dialogue.

Trying to close the train list after that, or attempts to exit the sim get a:

"Access violation at address 003468A4 in module 'rtl60.bpl'. Write of address 00000004."

Often have issues like menus sticking open.

Have to kill the bottle to get rid of the crashed sim - interestingly, the clock keeps running and stuff keeps moving, just can't actually control anything.

I know it's not the question you asked, but I now run sim sig on a mac using parallels (win 7), no problems at all.
Maybe an option if you can't get crossover to work satisfactorily.

The same happens under Wine, until an HTML renderer is installed. Unfortunately I can’t remember exactly what steps I took; I believe I may have ended up installing IE from an ordinary IE installation package into my Wine environment. In any case, something along those lines did indeed solve the problem, and the loader train list and the simplifier both work for me now.

"winetricks ie8" is the magic, but it's awfully WINE-specific.

I run Simsig successfully through Crossover on a mac.

I have:
OS X 10.6.8
Crossover 11.2

I create a bottle with all the system files in, then install all the different sims into that bottle. For the vast majority of the sims it works perfectly, though some do use a lot of CPU
