People who attended today's meet in London (October 15th 2016) will have had an opportunity to play three brand new never before seen simulations... Cardiff - Covering Cardiff PSB (As was) and St Fagans gate box. Cardiff Valleys - Covering Radyr SCC, Abercynon, and the former Heath Junction, Ystrad Mynach South, and Bargoed signalboxes. Cardiff Vale of Glamorgan - Covering the former Barry, Aberthaw, and Cowbridge Road signal-boxes. Though they won't be released immediately, they will hopefully be released in the not too distant future, so keep your eyes peeled on the forum for news. A preview of each of the simulations is attached to this post. And I'm happy to answer any questions that come along. Will the manual come with a pronunciation guide, or are these sims designed so that we can laugh on Teamspeak at people trying to say Rhymney, Pontypridd, and Penrhiwceiber?

Spend a day at Cardiff Central and you will probably get the hang of some of the Welsh placenames, along with some idea of the pronunciation, quite quickly: this will probably help you to work out where "Mynwent y Crynwyr" (*) and "Y Tyllgoed" (**) are if you listen enough! Other placenames covered by SimSig include Caerloyw (Gloucester) and Caerfaddon (Bath). ANyway, enough of that< see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Welsh_exonyms if you are curious. Anyway, having been at the meet today I have prepared some splash screens for this sim that I may, or may not, release when the sim comes out. Karl in your post describing the 3 sims you say Cardiff being Cardiff PSB(as was). Could you be a bit specific on eras roughly what years please, & I assume the period is the same for the other 2 sims?

The sims are roughly set in post 2000 running right up to there respective closure dates. I have no plans at the moment to produce an earlier era as I simply don't have the required level of information available. That is not to say an older era wouldn't be done in the future. OK Karl thanks for that. I've still got my contacts on the lookout for older era signalling notices & such like for you. IIRC I've got some older eras stuff that covers the Newport/Severn Tunnel Jn/Gloucester areas. I'll take a look during the week some of which may be of use to you along with the stuff I've already passed onto you. Are there not five platforms now at CDQ? I'm pretty sure they were building them when I was there-though that was two and a half years ago so my memory could be serving me incorrectly.

The PSB hasn't closed yet, it still controls Cardiff Central, and the mainlines out to Pontyclun. The SWSCC controls the rest of the old PSB area, the whole Vale of Glamorgan simulation area, and the top half of the Valleys simulation. Plus all of the former Newport PSB, plus the Shrewsbury - Crewe line. Cardiff Queen Street moved over to the SWSCC as three platforms, then the two new ones opened a couple of years later. As for testers , I think the author has a list the length of his arm for testers. Don't worry , it will be ready when it's ready and will be released at an appropriate time!

Karl, It was great to play the previews of the Cardiff area on Saturday so "Diolch yn fawr" for the opportunity. A couple of thoughts, if I may, regarding the Cardiff Central sim (although these have probably crossed your mind already): - For lines C, D & E at Cardiff West Jcn allow the option (if it doesn't already exist), when editing / creating a timetable, to specify whether a train should be send on line C, D or E. This should be on both Taff panel and West panel. - For lines C, D & E put some indication of where they go (ie. "To Ninian Park and Radyr" on West panel but "Main Lines and Cardiff Central P3 & P4".
