I've just started playing the newly released Westbury 4.4, and I see 5K39 in the 130220 TT is being seeded in Bedwyn Siding with a length of 130m, but gets truncated to 114m. According to the manual the siding is 135m long; does it need 20m of space for signal sighting when a train is being seeded in it?

Standard driving practice in all company instructions is to stop 1 coach length from the signal (1 coach = 20 metres as a rough quide) I know a few drivers used to cause carnage with that at certain signals in the London Bridge area.

It's a bit unclear what the length of the siding should be, Google maps gives it as about 130m (assuming the GPL is where it's said to be) but Bing maps shows it as having been extended (quite recently I guess) though we don't have a "modern" version of Westbury with the wires to Newbury (yet).

What train is 130m long though, that does not seem to match a length of any combinations of 165/166 units.

5-IET as used on the Bedwyn services now is 130m - they’ve been in service on Bedwyns since May 2019, siding was lengthened shortly before then.

Maximum Turbo formation permitted is still 3 car (70m)

It's a 5-car class 800. In this TT, 800s have mostly displaced 165s on services out of Paddington, with the 165s still being used for Reading - Newbury or Reading - Bedwyn trips.

Sectional Appendix shows length as "Turnback Sidings Standage - 142m, 155yds".

That would leave 12m of space for sighting. It would then still be needed to adjust the train's seeding position slightly, I think, to avoid truncating a class 800 by half a coach.

Anyway, thanks for the quick update.
