Welcome to 1989!! The Windsor Link is open and all long-distance services have been swapped to Manchester Piccadilly from May 15th, 1989. There has been some unease at the scale of the changes, so the Stockport-Stalybridge shuttle still operates episodically and a new, hourly service has been created to link Stalybridge and Manchester Victoria. This is an extension of the Manchester - North Wales service and provided entirely by Pacer type DMUs. The good people of Stalybridgte are underwhelmed. The Denton Jn - Heaton Norris Jn line is now busy with ECS moves to & from Stockport
