Hi all,

Unfortunately I am struggling with another aspect of East Coastway. I accidentally wrong-routed a train at Willingdon Junction (I tried to send it towards Pevensey & Westham rather than Polegate). The driver has phoned up and complained (as they should) and I have cancelled and reset the route, but I now cannot cancel the AB instruments. I have tried following the procedure outlined in the manual, but no matter which mouse button I use on the cancel button (arrowed in attachment) it does not respond. Is there anything else I need to do to release the block instruments?

Thanks again!

Mark (Gwasanaethau)

OK – facepalm moment here: there’s nothing stopping me from just setting the instrument back to normal on the receiving end…

*sigh*

You could also return the section signal back to danger, that will usually cancel it too!
The Welsh contingent. Aron, or Ar to mates. Also known as 88E or ThatManCalledAr.

Thanks. I thought that would’ve been the case too, but that didn’t happen in my case, however…

Right-click the "CAN" button in the block instrument of the signal box that you wish to cancel the Line Clear from. For example if you wish to cancel a Line Clear from Polegate to Willingdon Jn on the Up Main you would click the CAN button at Polegate. Once you've clicked the button it will flash for about two minutes while the Welwyn control times out. When the time-out has completed a message will be displayed "Block overide release given" and the button will show a steady light. Then right-click the Normal control on the block instrument and you're all done.

Thanks Kev. I had already given Train On Line – could that be why I couldn’t use the cancel buttons?

The hurdy-gurdy that you wind to get the release is part of the Welwyn Control :)

Unless it was one of those *blasted* lozenge type winders that didn't have the little handle. Especially at North Pole, when a train changing engines at Mitre Bridge needed 4 line clears in (sometimes very) quick succession!!!!!

At Little Mill Jn I had to hold in a button for two minutes. That was quite uncomfortable.

I know what one is, I was just jesting we you as none of the coastway east signalboxes had it. You could spin around the block instrument as many times as you liked without any locking or releases getting in the way.

So the burning question is: if the block goes from Line Clear to Train On Line and back to Normal but no train actually arrives, does it count against PPM?

Unless this is a joke I've completely managed to miss (plausible!), I'm not sure what your thinking is here - a delay related to the original misrouting would count against PPM, but why would PPM take any account of block instruments?
