First. just a quick question. If a train is flagged as being 'off planned path' do you lose points?

Having asked that, I'm surprised that 1P10 is 'off planned path' as I have routed it into P11X as per the timetable haven't I?

No, this doesn't lose you any points. Only when a train has to call that its route is wrong, you do lose points. And that won't happen for platform changes, unless the train needs to use a specific platform to reach its destination (such as Scarborough, only reachable from 2-5).

P.S. in other sims, Euston for instance, trains may also refuse a different platform if the type of power (AC, DC) is incompatible.

About 11X, I don't know. It seems that you used the warner route as intended. I have not played York in the old era yet.

Off planned path is purely an ARS message to warn you it's off its path and therefore ARS is inactive for the train.

As to the issue there, it looks like the correct route has been set. Out of interest did ARS set the route or was it set manually

I set the route manually as I've disabled ARS for the Station areas. As far as I can remember, most trains routed manually into platfrorms retain their ARS status. It just appears to be those with the suffix 'x' that don't, although I could be wrong here.
I'll monitor the situation and give an update when I have more information.

The X suffix tells ARS to Route the train on the Warner route, not full overlap.

ARS counts the two routes - Main and Warner - as different paths to the same destination. If you’ve not routed to the Warner triangle ARS will think the train is off planned path, even though the destination of the route set is effectively the same.

I'm not sure what you are saying here. I have routed the train to the Warner triangle, but you seem to suggest the ARS would only deem it 'off planned path' if I hadn't. Have I misunderstood you?

Update:

I have montitored the movements of several trains into various York station platforms and it would appear that there is no set pattern as to whether ARS declares a train 'off planned path' or not.

On a different topic, the TD of terminating trains doesn't seem to step up, but I suppose that I will have to live with that.

(1) In some sims you will lose points for sending a train to the wrong platform.

(2) It's possible for a sim to generate a "wrong route" message for a wrong platform even if that doesn't mean you can't get somewhere. For example, Peterborough and WembleySub both "wrong route" for overlength trains. A sim developer could do something more complex if they saw the need.

Posting in this thread as it appears to be related. ARS not happy with routing trains into Platform 11X. Save attached shows 1P18 approaching. ARS doesn't route into 11 but does set a route from 11 out of the station to the north. 1P18 will wait for a manual route to be set and when it is set, will react as if being off planned route. May be a TT or sim bug - not sure. Up to this point in the timetable I've noticed this on several occasions.

Loader 4.11 Sim 1.7 TT York 15-10-09 (0000 start) (as supplied on download)

Further to the above. Attached save shows ARS struggling to find a route into P10X for 1S71 which should be available.
