That’s not an ScR Tokenless instrument, it’s a normal Absolute Block instrument for the double track section to/from Barrhead.

The original stage works had Absolute Block working to Burnside and Pollokshaws East (TCB to Muirend & Muirhouse Junction via Queens Park) so it will probably be a hang over from then (there is a bell push partly hidden at the other end of the console).

I don't think JC92 mentioned Tokenless Block.

In any event Cathcart has never controlled the Barrhead line. Around the time Cathcart was commissioned the junction to the Barrhead line was controlled by Muirhouse Junction and then Glasgow Central.

If you mean the Neilston (old Giffen) line the fringe to Muirend was TCB from the initial commissioning of Cathcart.

Reason: Giffen to Neilston

We had to leave the key under a stone by the gate.
I thought it was on the top of the gate post, but anyway.

We then hoved off to Central box where they had not got a clue we were coming but let us in any way.
And they were in the middle of taking it apart.

As I sit on my Cathay Pacific plane at MAN airport, I thought I'd drop a few parting comments.

Thanks to all for your friendship and hospitality at the meet. It was well worth the trip.

Special mention to John MELD, Alan GilChrist Almighty ( :-P ), Karl and James Nelhams for additional time spent entertaining me and for all the work put into setting the meet up by Alan, Karl and John G. That said, I still blame Nelhams for putting my nametag in the holder upside down!!! :-D

Lastly, thanks to John G for the special mention in the wiki. Thank you sir.

Until next time! Cheerio all!

The key - yes we were now locked inside the boundary fence in the trackbed of the former loop with some 100 or so yards to walk to the box, up the tower and meet the signaller. When it was time to leave the signaller was on his own so could not take us back to the gate. He gave us the key and advised us when to move so we were not observed by any train drivers passing. We had to leave the key under a stone by the gate.

We then hoved off to Central box where they had not got a clue we were coming but let us in any way. Lastly, we did Paisley where the red carpet was awaiting us. I recall that the controller there later transferred to the new control centre at Cowlairs and a few years later I had a visit there too.

And you want me to write a book? :-)

If you mean the AB instrument at the left hand end of the panel, it's most likely to/from Burnside Jn for the goods-only line from Kirkhill Jn. Cathcart controlled that route from Kirkhill Jn box's closure in 1961 to the line's closure in 1966.
