Are you able to post a save please. And what version of the sim are you on?

Karl is aware of this issue, as i mentioned it to him on his chain of sims the other night. Believe it just needs a Through Line ticked.

I am indeed, 6O32 has through line ticked in 1.0.2 of the timetable which was pushed a few days ago (Thanks to MarkC for reminding me)

Timing issue with slot at Pantyffynnon? 03/11/2018 at 11:18 #113084

Thanks for the sim guys!

I managed to do something that might be correct IRL (and warrants a disciplinary!) or there is a timing issue on the way the slot works at Pantyffynnon.

Due to the TT of the special 1Z37 (default TT 0400 start), there are several timing conflicts including with 2V36, which is attempting to enter at Pantyffynnon while 1Z37 is exiting. Despite the up slot being given and 1Z37 being in section, the signaller at PF requests the down slot. I clicked it and got the message, correctly, "cannot give slot" but then I clicked it again, thinking I hadn't clicked it and not noticing the message. I cannot say for sure the exact order of messages/flashing etc.

The second time, the slot button was accepted, although immediately extinguished and then the message that 2V36 received an adverse aspect at PF46. I'm not sure whether this would be theoretically possible but it sounds like the accept slot button should never work while a route is set towards PF. Maybe, this is correct IRL however due to mechanical interlockings and the ability for a mechanical signaller to do these kinds of things?

The Pantyffynnon signaller can request the slot if the other slot is given, as the request for the slot in real life is done by Pantyffynnon interposing the TD in the approach berth. The sim will correctly not allow you to give both slots at the same time.

I'm not sure what you've done the second time, though yes, putting back the slot accepting it to approach Port Talbot will cause an ACOA at the Pantyffynnon end.

Slot problem at Cowbridge Road 03/11/2018 at 11:29 #113087

The manual says to grant the slot button as soon as the train enters at CR. A couple of times, the train appears and I grant the slot relatively quickly, I signal the train into P1A at Bridgend and it gets to at least SP 3453 but the signaller from CR calls and says they need the slot. At this point, the disc is not illuminated so I then click it again but since the train has already passed, it stays lit and I have to cancel it again manually.

I'm not sure why they call but I've seen it at least twice today (default TT 0400 start).

Although you say you are granting it relatively quickly, due to what is a bit of a limitation in how phone calls are coded, you may grant the slot, but the call is still in progress.

I've improved it for the next update so the signaller at Cowbridge Road makes it clear you beat him to the draw.

Although when I did grant the slot the second time, it was the SIM that reset it to blank, not me. I'll see if I can grab a screen recording of it next time!

It may be related this problem on Cowlairs which I found when two trains enter in quick succession: https://www.SimSig.co.uk/Forum/ThreadView/49120

In that case it would be a core code issue.

That doesn't sound like a core issue to me, that sounds like a sim issue.

This may sound like a light nit pick, but the Tondu - Maesteg token machine has a roundel for train going from and train going to, however only the train going from is ever used as drivers don't cycle tokens in the same way they do on the Valleys. Is this intentional?

The token is never cycled in real life, however the two indications are provided for future proofing for if an earlier era is ever done, which would mean the tokens are cycled for trains locking in at the ground frame.

Cowbridge Road box occasionally calls asking for the slot on the Down VOG when trains have passed there and are approaching 3453 Sig at Barry Jn. It;s just happened with 2E16 and a couple previously whose headcodes I failed to note.

This had already been dealt with for a future update.

I'm experiencing odd behaviour with the Tondu - Maesteg token. When 1V89 arrived a Tondu in the down direction, I granted the token in the usual way and set the route towards Maesteg. The train ran to Maesteg, then called in to confirm it had arrived. Next as 2G56 it called to request departure for which I granted permission and set the route back to Tondu. A little later, I noticed that the token display was showing "Token In". I paused to take a save but the indication had then changed to "Token Going To". I then ran on for a couple of minutes and noticed the indication had changed back to "Token In" and this time I managed to save without any change.

Please see attached save.

As I said to you at the meet, Karl, I'm really enjoying this sim.

Chris

Not found a bug, but I've got a TT request if possible?

Anything when fregiht diverts via Tondu were on would be brilliant! Or possibly a scenario where you could send freight/trains via Tondu on the OVE rather than straight through (in case of points failures) without having to heavily ammend TTs?

I've tried altering a TT myself to do this, but it found no paths Tondu-Garw Loop! Even when doing Tondu > Garw Branch > Garw Loop, or Tondu > Garw Loop.

Think I've found an oopsie-doopsie.....

"Permanent approach locking" if you return 545 (shunt up the DN GOODS from SWA Carriage Washer) to danger....appr. locking never clears!

That's per real life, from memory you have to set the route in at the other end, then pull both.

Is the behaviour of trains upon reaching Maesteg as per real life? I ask because of the UWC on the line — my thought would be that there's the potential for trains to be some time between arriving and departing Maesteg, during which there might be a request from someone to use the crossing. So should perhaps the departure phone calls be more of a "permission to depart" rather than an "acknowledge departure" thing? At the moment you don't have an option to tell the driver to depart a little later.

Hi, two things:

- I had a blank TID or extra whitespace in a call from Pantyffnnon who's waiting (impatiently!) for PT401 slot - see below
- At Burrows sidings I can accept a train from the PIC and it will come to a stand at 451, even when I've already routed a train into the sidings having been slotted previously. Is there an invisible junction between 451 and BS1 or did I discover a quantum effect?

Thanks
Jamie
