East London Line 12/01/2019 at 18:38 #114681

Evening all,

Looking on London Bridge ASC sim I notice that at least two of the exit points from the sim go onto the East London Line.

If a sim was produced covering the East London Line how big an area would it be? And would it be a sim unto itself or likely to be incorporated with other areas? I only ask as I don't know where the ELL is controlled from.

Cheers,
Dave

Its controlled by the new Cross signal control centre to Highbury and Islington. Have a look at the attached CCF print for some idea of the area of control

There's a few photos of the SCC from a telecoms engineer who worked on the commissioning in this thread on another forum.

Thank you both for your replies. Would possibly make quite a good forum. Would also chain to Kings Cross I see.

King's Cross? It fringes to Upminster IECC NLL East Workstation at Highbury and Islington over the interchange line (out of use except for during possessions).

New Cross Gate only control the ELL pair of lines through stations between Dalston Junction to Highbury and Islington.

If you look at Lagertoe's link there is a line to Finsbury Park on the top row, hence my thought that an ELL sim would chain to KX.

That's Canonbury West Junction used by mostly by freight to/from the ECML at Finsbury Park, don't think much goes that way but the Plasmor service certainly does.

That's the service which runs from Heck in Yorkshire to Bow in London via Biggleswade and the Hertford Loop.

I believe although I don't know when it was last used as such but GN drivers did used to sign the Canonbury Curve in order to turn back during times of disruption or engineering works, think that was a good few years ago.

As to the actual chaining question you raised, I would have thought the ELL line would more likely chain to the NLL line however that's not the case as others have stated.

The CCF screenshot doesn't show the signalbox boundaries - NXSCC only controls the bottom pair of lines at Highbury, the upper pair is controlled from Upminster NLL East Desk.
