I've just talked 1A16 past a red signal towards a TC failure which as you can see is just beyond the next signal and within the overlap of that signal. (See screenshot)
Should I have done that, or should I have asked the driver to pass the signal at danger and examine the line, in which case he would then have telephoned at the signal at which point I would have repeated that procedure.
I hope that I have made that clear??

Nah, you're alright, you only have to examine the affected portion of line, but you would obviously explain to the driver the reason you're authorising him to pass the first signal at danger, which would of course involve telling him the overlap track circuit of the next signal is showing occupied

Also in real life, if the first train to pass will pass on the unaffected line, you'd also wanna caution the driver of the train on the unaffected line, and you should caution trains on the adjacent line while the affected track circuit is being examined. Bit hard to pull off in SimSig though to be fair, but possible to approximate.

TUT. Thanks for your reply. Initially though that I might be doing something against the rules, so thought it best to ask.
