I’m considering doing an up-to-date West Hampstead timetable for May 2020. I have most of the required info, but is anyone able to provide the relevant diagrams for GTR and/or EMR as an additional aid? TIA for any assistance anyone can give.

I can't help with EMR unfortunately, but PM me your email address and I'll send you the Thameslink Carriage Working Notices and 700 diagrams

Are you looking at the 'proper' timetable as opposed to Covid?

Yes I'm looking at doing the MF timetable which starts this month. Whether the real thing ever happens in full is a matter for debate!

I've got the May 2018 MF timetable to work from as a base, so hopefully this one should simply be an updated and enhanced version.

Beware that there have been track layout changes since the sim was released which may affect routing. Also, I believe the linespeed has increased as well. I'm not sure about this but wires have been going up north of Bedford - are they live and being used by scheduled services yet?

And of course, not forgetting a rather significant new piece of railway....

Not yet, I think it will be based on a future timetable recast when EMR get some electrics.

Touch wood it shouldn’t be a major problem - the May 2018 timetable worked okay with a few workarounds, and so far (albeit I’ve thusfar only got through about 10x 700 diagrams) it seems chances since May 2018 are minimal.

Bedford Jowett sidings are no problem to get round, and the Canal Tunnels are simple to workaround simply by ignoring GN services. In fairness it wouldn’t add much value to the sim just sorting out GN versus Midland side services anyway.

Sundon goods loop being missing is an irritant but again not critical, likewise there’s a couple of small issues with the Luton layout but again not critical. This leaves Cricklewood Sidings as the biggest headache, I’ve not written enough thus far to decide how best to work around this. The solution for May 2018 wasn’t quite perfect, but I believe there’s been further alterations since then.

Which should be Dec 2020, not sure if the date has slipped back due to Covid19 but it was certainly the date pencilled in as that's when the Class 360s were expected to be in passenger service.

Also as well as obvious track layout changes, there has also been signalling changes too especially in the Luton area.

Just a thank you to everyone who has thusfar replied. Thanks to a couple of people I have the relevant info for GTR, but not for EMR. The latter shouldn’t be critical as I will hopefully be able to work it out (although if anyone is able to help with the EMR diagrams then please do!).

Work on this timetable has now started with the first 20 diagrams worth of timetable inputted. Hopefully be ready in a month or two.

Cricklewood Sidings is the main problem area. If anyone is able to provide anything which goes into detail regarding the arrangements there (eg driver training maps or documentation) then this would be helpful. I don’t foresee any other major issues with the sim.

Just a little update on this one. As of today all GTR and EMR diagrams have been completed, so it’s only freight to go now. The combination of annual leave and lockdown has helped get this timetable written up very quickly!

EMR has thrown up a couple of issues which appear to be errors in the WTT (if one works off the WTT then the stock doesn’t balance, indicating something amiss somewhere). However thanks to help from a couple of contributors and some trial and error getting the stock to balance, I’m fairly certain I’ve nailed it. There continues to be one bit where the WTT doesn’t quite work (an incoming train attempting to arrive at an occupied platform) but I think this is just a timing error as it can be made to work without destroying everything.

Will add the freight paths over the next few days, then will test it once over, then will submit. Probably still be a good couple of weeks to get all that done.

Once again many thanks to those who contributed, it’s really made the task much easier, and helped ensure accuracy.

A further update, this timetable is now complete. So far I’ve tested it up to 0900 with only a couple of minor modifications required, indeed on easy mode with no failures it’s actually been possible to score 100% which indicates everything works reasonably well - the workarounds on this one have proved to behave more smoothly than on the May 18 timetable.

I’m back to work now after annual leave so less time on my hands, however I hope to finish the once over and have the timetable submitted within a week or so.

Although there’s generally not as many trains on the panel as King’s Cross, I find this sim more challenging due to the amount of crossover moves between the fast and slow lines, and the fact that especially during the peaks there isn’t much consistency from one service to he next

One last update on this, I haven’t had quite as much spare time as expected this last week, so testing is still continuing. I’m up to the evening peak now, so far with only a couple of small issues identified and addressed. I’m not going to give an estimate of when this might be completed, but hopefully not long now.

I’ve also got slightly sidetracked doing a heavy overhaul of the Winter 2017 King’s Cross timetable, which will be ready and tested in a few weeks!
