I can see the orange roundel and also several others. Don't recall having to use them on the .exe version although they are on there. Perhaps I just talked them past the signal as I did in this case, which is probably not the way to do it. Could you do this in reality or would the TC overide need to be used?
You'd be having a tea and no biscuits meeting if you started talking passed signals without good reason. And there are only 15 goods reasons.
Although to be fair, one of the reasons is emergency permissive working, though that's not quite the same as "If you have failed to operate the required override switch"

You may authorise a signal to be passed at danger or an end of authority (EoA) to be passed without a movement authority (MA) only in the following circumstances.

1 The signal is defective or disconnected.

2 ERTMS equipment is defective or disconnected and is preventing an MA from being issued.

3 The signal cannot be cleared or an MA cannot be sent because signalling or level crossing equipment has failed.
Note 3 is to be distinguished from 1 (and 2) in that 1 specifically refers to a signal being defective or disconnected (and 2 covers the ERTMS equivalent) whereas 3 catches other situations like track circuit failure, failure of barriers of a CCTV level crossing in the raised position only if road-traffic signals working etc.

10 A train is to pass the signal or EoA protecting engineering work under the requirements of module TS1 General Signalling Regulations, regulation 13.2 to gain access to:
• a station where the train is required to start back
• a line under single line working
• a siding.
10 refers to a "13.2 line blockage", which is one taken by track workers (COSS/IWA/PC/SWL) and is often planned in advance. If work affecting the safety of the line is to take place within 200 metres of the protecting signal, the previous signal must be maintained at danger as well. Item 10 allows the previous signal (referred to as a MAD (Maintained At Danger) signal) to be passed only for the reasons listed provided you have agreed this with the COSS/IWA/... beforehand.

11 The line is to be examined to check that it is clear.

12 A train is to proceed at caution through an absolute block section from the signal box in rear when a failed train has been removed.

• a train or vehicle that has proceeded without authority has been removed, or

13 need not be applied on Track Circuit Block lines, but you must make sure that the line is clear before signalling the next train over the affected portion of line.

That'll be because you talked him passed the signal. Whether it's right behaviour or not for this situation I don't know. But it doesn't happen if the route was cleared.
I didn't catch that. Yes, if the train passes the signal at danger then the train in section proving and thus route release won't apply.

Strange as I thought he was its number #1 fan in the UK Or maybe because 99% of it is in his neck of the woods.

Must admit, I do like lamps on sticks and staring at a block marker at the end of a platform really is not quite the same as seeing a green and thinking an interesting train may be coming.
