Hello, I am a newcomer from Western Australia. After I leave high school next year I hope to become a signal technician, and I just want to learn some stuff about train control, even if it's more or less unrelated to what I want to do. T

Hello! my name is Dan and I am sort of new to SimSig. I signed up as I want to get to learn the program more and talk to people; the program so far is great and definitely intriguing. Can't wait to get involved in the community. Have a great evening :))

Apart from the link from Bill which may help you, there is also a video tutorial for an earlier pre-loader version of Royston linked from this page of the Wiki.

The principles remain the same although the earlier version of the sim is loaded slightly differently.

Hello, I'm OB3640, and I'm from the United States. I've been around for a few months now, but this is my first time looking at the forums. I've really enjoyed checking out the different simulations, and I've learned a lot about how railway signalling works in the UK.

Hi all.
I'm Dave, just turned 65, ex British Rail and although I wanted to be a signalman, unfortunately my eyesight
wasn't quite up to scratch back in 1971. So SimSig is the second* nearest I can get to my dream.

I have had (an older version of) SimSig for quite some time, but not played it for a couple of years.
Recently got back into it (a couple of days ago to be precise).
Have been playing the free Aston just to get back into the swing of things.

Hope sometime to be able to join in with a multi-player session.

* - I say second nearest because I have operated a few manual signalboxes around the
Cambridge area back in the day, and have been 'let loose' on the Cambridge panel in
Cambridge PSB in the middle of the day!

Hi Edd,

The Wiki has a lot of excellent information for beginners, have a read.

Also, practice makes perfect! You'll probably find it tricky to start with, but once you have worked the sim for a while, it should start to fall into place.

Thanks
Jamie
