Timetable issues when routing trains off planned path. 06/04/2022 at 17:00 #146058

I noticed the same issue with changing timetables on Hong Kong East. I think the problem is that the train list's "run to another timetable" does not count ARS auto-inserted locations, but then uses the index from that to index the list that does have auto-inserted locations.
For example, a train from Lo Wu has locations:
Quote:
Lo Wu
Sheung Shui
Fan Ling
But ARS will auto-insert locations between this, making it in total:
Quote:
Lo Wu
Lo Wu South
Slaughter Sidings Through Lines
Sheung Shui
Fan Ling
When using "run to another timetable" to step the train up to Fan Ling, it looks at the original list, and sees Fan Ling is the 3rd entry in the timetable. It then sets the train to its 3rd location, but doesn't count the ARS locations. So, it ends up setting Slaughter Sidings Through Lines as the next timing point, instead of Fan Ling.

Completely different. Ask on the HKG forum and maybe the developer will look into whether it's an issue.

Quote:
Upon trying to change the next location to Waterloo it then changes the next location to Clapham Junction
Sounds suspiciously similar on an ARS sim. But alright, I'll make a new thread.

That's an interesting theory; I'll look into it.

It would help if you could produce a demo timetable that just contained one train showing the problem.

I'm struggling to create a reproduction timetable, but I do have a savefile in which it happens.
Just try to change any of the train's location index via the F2 train list, like for example L439, changing it to Lok Ma Chau, and then click on the headcode, it will show Tai Wo. It then also behaves like that's the next location, not Lok Ma Chau like instructed.

Already noted it some time ago as #25858.
Two million people attempt to use Birmingham's magnificent rail network every year, with just over a million of them managing to get further than Smethwick.

I believe this also affects the editing of a timetable already in service as well. I've had numerous occasions, very difficult to reliably reproduce, where attempting to 'short terminate' a train causes the timetable to either not show, or have its locations badly out of order.
