I know a few of you downloaded my Southampton December 2009 SX timetable and many thanks for all your feedback and comments on that.

I've been toying with the idea of doing a similar scenario for Waterloo, which sorely needs a comprehensive, up-to-date 24 hour (or in reality 27 hour) timetable. The 2003 Summer timetable available on the website is excellent (as is the Bank Holiday 2005 one), but the service patterns out of Waterloo have changed somewhat since then. Anyway, recently I've actually had the time and inclination to get down to business and start entering trains, currently the total stands at 883 movements, which is all movements for Classes 159, 378 and 444, virtually all movements for Classes 450/0 and 458, and about half for Class 450/5 - I haven't even started on the Class 455s yet but I imagine the final total for movements will be around 1300.

Here's the description for the timetable:

NOTE
There are a few "5Zxx" movements into Waterloo at the start of the scenario that represent trains that berth in the station overnight. It is best to launch the scenario at the set time of 04:00, as missing these services may mean that trains later on do not spawn and this may cause problems. Traffic won't really pick up until 05:00, so I advise you run the simulation in fast mode until then.

PASSENGER SERVICES
This timetable features all SW and LO passenger services, with correctly timed ECS moves for the most. Some routing may not be 100% accurate but is the best that could be achieved with the information available. Rules have been implemented where appropriate to stop too many trains appearing in times of disruption which wouldn't appear in real life.

Brief rundown of headcode letters:
A - to/from Farnham and Alton
B - to/from Southampton, Bournemouth and Poole
C - to/from Reading
D - to/from Dorking or Guildford via Epsom
F - to/from Woking and Guildford via Weybridge
G - to/from Guildford or Portsmouth via Cobham
H - to/from Shepperton via Wimbledon or Richmond
J - to/from Hampton Court
K - to/from the Kingston Loop via Wimbledon
L - to/from Basingstoke, Salisbury and Exeter
M - to/from Chessington
N - to/from Aldershot via Ascot
O - to/from the Kingston Loop via Richmond
P - to/from Haslemere or Portsmouth via Guildford
Q - test train working
R - to/from the Hounslow Loop via Richmond
S - to/from Weybridge via Brentford
T - to/from Portsmouth via Eastleigh
U - to/from Staines and Windsor
V - to/from the Hounslow Loop via Brentford
W - to/from Weymouth
Y - to/from Clapham Yard
Z - short term plan working

FREIGHT SERVICES
This timetable features all of the regular freight workings that were booked to run at the time it was made, as well as a few additionals. Many thanks to the posters on WRGEN, and to Freightmaster (http://freightmaster.net) for the information regarding these.

SPECIAL SERVICES
There are a number of STP moves in this timetable, set to run occasionally, so you won't get all of them in one session.

I hope you enjoy using this timetable as much as I have "enjoyed" creating it. Many thanks to everyone who has helped with advice on timetabling for SimSig, feedback on my previous Southampton timetable, and those who contributed information in the form of CWNs, diagrams and TRUST print-outs.

Anyway, this is just a quick heads up about a new timetable that'll be released shortly (next week or so I imagine). I'll need a couple of people to do some thorough and comprehensive testing e.g. play the whole thing through from 04:00 to 27:00, so if you fancy it then let me know here and I'll send out a few test copies before uploading it and hopefully iron out any routing bugs or otherwise that there may be.

Should be finished by Friday, I've started making in roads on the 455s and once they are done it'll be ready for testing.

I've had to miss one or two late night ECS trains, approaching Clapham Yard from the Up Windsor line. As far as I can tell there is no way of getting them in to Clapham Yard short of running them via Waterloo! Similarly, a few STP light loco moves which run from Clapham Junction Middle Siding to the Up Windsor Line have to run via Kensington as there is some point work missing. But these aren't major issues anyway.

We currently stand at 1069 trains and 95 rules. Probably about 1200 trains and 150 rules when finished.

I'm also going to provide a version with a much decreased set of rules for those of you who like disruption on masse. If disruption causes trains to stack out of area, they get cancelled which will in turn mean other trains get cancelled because of the rules not being fulfilled.

Hi there,

Been having a go at this TT, and come across a few minor problems (at about 0950 so far)

*ARS is misbehaving with trains going from Waterloo to Clapham Yard (5Y**) - it keeps trying to send them via the mains rather than A/B Yard Tracks. I have a feeling this might be a sim issue though?
*1D18 has a timetabled stop at Queenstown Road, but is meant to be on the UMS, ergo is unable to stop there (and complains loudly about this)
*Similarly, 2R11-1 has a stop there, but is timetabled for the UWS/REV.

Otherwise, a fun timetable!

Thanks for the feedback.

With regards to the 5Yxx moves, I suspect this is a sim problem more than anything, they should all be timetabled properly.

As for 1D18/2R11-1, the former should not have a stop at Queenstown Road, in fact I've not the faintest idea how that got there, and the latter should be routed on the UWF from West London Junction. Both of these issues have now been fixed, and I'll upload a new version tommorow. I have already uploaded a V1.1 which has a few extra STP workings and the sim starts at 03:35 (all the 5Zxx ECS moves are retimed to run 30 minutes earlier to avoid coinciding with scheduled services).

Enjoy the rest of the timetable and let me know if you get any more errors.

Actually, the 5Yxx moves may require routing via West London Junction to avoid them trying to use the DMF. I'll give this a try.

EDIT: This fixes the problem, now I've just got to change all those trains!

I've changed a few more things:

- Trains from Clapham Yard to the DWS are now routed via the REC line, which means ARS will now deal with them, instead of requiring a manual route to be set.
- Some retiming of trains entering from East Putney to avoid clashes at Point Pleasant/Wandsworth Town.
- A few extra STP trains, mainly engineers workings.

EDIT: The routing at Clapham Yard worked when I test it, but it doesn't in the actual timetable. Odd.

One other thing I was noticing was quite a few trains out of Waterloo, heading on the Fast towards Wimbledon, ARS claimed the route would be:

[th]Loc[/th][th]Line[/th][th]Path[/th]

Waterloo-DMF

Intl JncDMFDMS

VauxhallDMFDMF

ARS (and I) were quite confused as to why a train would go onto the DMS at Intl Jnc and then go back - ARS would refuse to route the trains and claim it was off past if I brought it out onto the DMF (the only option for these trains). This probably isn't what the actual TT says, as I was looking at the ARS Timetable Report thingy.

Typically, I can't find a relevant example at the moment!

Yes, I've noticed that as well but I can only assume it is a bug as I did not enter any times for International Junction - only Waterloo, Clapham Jnc Main ad Wimbledon for DMF services. The auto routing in the timetable editor reads:

[th]Locn[/th][th]Line[/th][th]Path[/th]

WATERLOODMF

International JncDMFDMF

VauxhallDMFDMF

Queestown RdDMFDMF

CLAPHAM JNC (MAIN)DMFDMF

EarlsfieldDMFDMF

WIMBLEDONDMFDMF

All the trains are correctly set up in the timetable editor as far as I can tell, and it only appears when you are actually running the sim. If anyone has ideas how to fix this, then please do share!

Have you noticed any DLL errors when certain trains spawn?

Additionally, if anyone knows how to fix the error with trains being routed by ARS from Clapham Yard North to Clapham Junction Windsor then I'd like to hear from you. It seems to work fine with test services!

The Clapham Junction Yard North routing problem seems to be caused when there is a train in the road, e.g. B, ready to head towards Barnes and another train enters the area at Clapham Junction Yard waiting for road B, which causes ARS to completely die.

Really, though, the Sim cannot be played on ARS alone because of the way it works at East Putney; it will not route trains from signal 4446 to 4444. Fortunately there are only about five trains in the entire timetable which require this routeing.

I don't think that is a bug, but is a feature of all ARS simulations. If you don't enter those passing points/locations then it will automatically add it into the timetable. You may have to go through each train and manually add the locations or just alter the lines the trains run on.

Hope this helps.

Yes, I know that; when I add the services the auto-routing works fine, DMF / DMF for all of the automatically entered points. The difficulty is that in the sim, this sometimes magically changes to DMF / DMS for International Junction, then back to DMF / DMF for Vauxhall, causing a farce with the ARS! There's no logical reason why it would do this.

I could go through to each train and make International Junction a manually entered timing point with DMF / DMF which should stop it changing the Line to DMS, but that's going to be around 400 - 500 trains!

When I enter it in the editor it looks like this:

[th]Locn[/th][th]Line[/th][th]Path[/th]

WATERLOODMF

CLAPHAM JNC (MAIN)DMFDMF

WIMBLEDONDMFDMF

The auto-routing then expands it to:

[th]Locn[/th][th]Line[/th][th]Path[/th]

WATERLOODMF

International JncDMFDMF

VauxhallDMFDMF

Queestown RdDMFDMF

CLAPHAM JNC (MAIN)DMFDMF

EarlsfieldDMFDMF

WIMBLEDONDMFDMF

But in the sim, for some trains, it will magically change to:

[th]Locn[/th][th]Line[/th][th]Path[/th]

WATERLOODMF

International JncDMFDMS

VauxhallDMFDMF

Queestown RdDMFDMF

CLAPHAM JNC (MAIN)DMFDMF

EarlsfieldDMFDMF

WIMBLEDONDMFDMF

I recall seeing this problem happen on other timetables for the Waterloo sim, which suggests that it is a sim problem.

Thanks very much for the hard work on the timetable. Just one little error that I've noticed is that 2C21 (09:20 Waterloo-Reading) is booked to call at Clapham Jn P4, the UWF platform. I assume given the slow line routeing on this train that should be P6.

Otherwise, it's a treat.

An updated version, 1.2, has been submitted to the file library and should be available soon. It sorts out most of the routing errors reported here, and one or two other things that I spotted.

Thanks for your feedback!

Regarding the auto insert locations- what you can do is open the timetable in txt and find/delete the * that is at the beginning of the auto-inserted locations. You may have to analyse the timetable first to 'create' the locations.

If having done that and made sure you have the correct line and paths and there are still routing problems then PM or email me with the specifics and I can look into it.

Peter

PS do you want me to 'release' your TT or do you want to have another look at it?
