I was just wondering that what could you do for work experiance to do with the railways

You wouldn't be allowed to be involved in any safety critical role if you are under 18.

you might get work experience on the platforms, or as a unit cleaner, but thats probably it

No, it's a safety critical role for which you have to be at least 18.

We get the odd work experience person at Paddington. They usually do admin in the train crew managers' office. They never see a train, let alone work on one!
