I'm currently playing the Edinburgh 1985 timetable V2.1.0PAID merged with the 1985 ballast V3PAID & 1985 Fife Ballast V.2PAID & the setting is on 'beginner' as it is the 1st time I've played the re-rleased timetables merged. The time is 02.37 & I'm curious to the high propertion of locos appearing in the timetable reporting 'loss of power'. The following engines/trains have this problem:-
0E52, 0B71, 7C02, 0S37 & 7B42 so far.
This to me seems exetremely high percentage of failures in traffic. In reality these locos would be replaced at the earliest convienient location or would be replaced before they came off shed. When you enter all the parameters & finally load the sim up to run, does the programme randomly mark the train or light loco at that point to show it having 'Loss of Power'? I know you get advanced warning of such instances before it appears which makes me think that is the case, but the state of available power on the Scottish Region primarily with the diesel fleet seems dire to say the least. In the 12 years I speant being a loco controller I had 7 out of the 8 Cl.37s at Ipswich for freightliner work fail during the course of one night shift, but that was in the exetreme & they werem't all down to 'Loss of Power', & I doubt the Cl.47s were all Gateshead engines as they had a reputation of not looking after there locos very well. As I plod on with this game I wonder how many more locos will be reported as having N/LOP - & for those who don't know thats the TOPS code for a loco failure with 'Loss of Power'.

I'm not sure how LOP is generated by the Sim but it appears to be a tickable flag in the timetable menu. Are all these trains so ticked?
