I seem to be having some trouble with train 6R02 in the Royston Down Siding. I routed it as expected into the siding and then called up the shunter to direct it into sheriff's siding ... that was acknowledged and so I set the signal -- since then 6R02 seems to be permanently stuck at "Waiting for right-away at Royston Down Siding".

It's sat like that for an hour for no apparent reason. Might this be a bug, or am I doing something wrong?

Some more details:

After I let it sit for awhile I had it "shunt forward" which seemed to have no effect. Then I tried "reverse direction" and it did nothing as well. Eventually after some SPAD authorizations I somehow got it to status "at buffer stops" even though it was still in the "up" direction at location "Royston Down Siding". This makes no sense to me -- surely the up-direction buffer stops are at the "down loop" location, not Royston Down Siding?

I thought maybe it the problem was that I didn't call ahead to the shunter to say that 6R02 would be coming in to the down siding, so I restarted the sim at a 7:30 start and this time called ahead. Directed 6R02 in the same way, and got the same result so it appears that is not the problem...

Attached. 6R02 has been sitting in the down siding for an hour. Shunter was contacted to route into Sheriff's siding and route has been set.

Wow, that is not obvious at all -- I'd have thought the signal out of the siding would be sufficient as it is on most sims.

Thank you much!

It's all there in the Manual.

The reason is that the Down Siding and Grain Siding merge together before signal K249 via a set of hand points. So you have to tell the shunter to set the points and wave the train forward over them to K249.

The same happens in the other direction. Dalgety Siding, Freight Depot, and the Down Loop all feed to K244 via hand points so, again, you need to get the shunter to set the points and wave the train over them.

Hmm, that's an interesting point: Shouldn't something *also* have gone wrong when I tried to send 6R02 into the down siding without calling ahead? e.g. the train might have gone into the grain siding instead of the down siding, or the shunter should have called up and complained (or both)

I'm running into the same problem but even when I call the shunter after 6R02 is in the down siding to allow the train to exit the down siding he says there's no route available.

Hi!

Just made small step-by-step tutorial how to depart train 6R02 from Down Siding to Sherriff's Siding.
Hopefully it will help. Tested on SimSig 4.9.

Best regards
