Some photos from the Cardiff area:

A busy scene at the east end of Cardiff Central. A light Class 66 waits at C127 while a HST crosses from the Down Main to access Platform 4. Meanwhile, a pair of 143s drop down from Queen St on a Penarth service. In the far distance, a 150 heads away from Cardiff on the Up Main.

175101 rolls into Cardiff Central platform 2

'Mayflower' arrives at Cardiff Central platform 4 from Canton, ready to work the return leg of 'The Cathedrals Express' on 01/03/2015.

153327 works the shuttle at Cardiff Bay.

A 153 arrives at Cardiff Queen Street from Cardiff Bay. This photo was taken after the re-control of the area to Cardiff ROC, but before the dedicated bay platform for the shuttle and additional platform on the Up side were brought into use, so the service is arriving at the former platform 3 (now platform 2).

A pair of 66s take the Rail Head Treatment Train off the Rhymney line, with Cardiff Queen St in the background. The Radyr line curves to the right of the frame.

Taken from the same bridge as the previous picture, but facing the other way, 66005 heads towards Heath Jn and Cwmbargoed with an empty coal train from Aberthaw. Part of the land to the left was formerly a goods yard; it's now occupied by a Cardiff University halls of residence.

A 142 heads past Talybont, between Cathays and Llandaff, heading to Pontypridd and beyond.

Cardiff PSB- a far cry from the traditional look of a signal box!

A view of the east end of the station. The new gantry dwarfs the original 1960s installations, which had 10 months left when this photo was taken.

A view over the area formerly occupied by the sidings at Pontyclun, looking west. LE1 is still in place, despite almost all trackwork being lifted by this point. A Class 60 approaches with a steel train from Margam.

Heath Low Level, looking towards the junction and the equivalent of HJ12. Note the steep gradient up to the main line.

A 150 working a Treherbert- Cardiff Central service arrives at Llandaff. VR526 is in the background.

The south end of Radyr station, showing L-R VR517, VR619 and VR615. A 150 approaches Platform 2 from Llandaff with a Merthyr Tydfil service.

The north end of Radyr station; a 150 arrives at platform 1 with a Barry Island service, while a second 150 waits in platform 3 with a Treherbert service (which had run via Ninian Park)

Taffs Well station. A 150 arrives working a Barry Island service. VR512, and the fixed red VR514 that allows trains to turn back in the Down platform, can just be seen in the background.

A 143 leads a 150 through Treforest Eastate with a Treherbert- Cardiff Central service.

The junction at Pontypridd, also showing the disused signalbox, which closed in October 1998 when Radyr took over the area.

Hi, I can confirm that this is the Postland signal box on the former M&GN Spalding to March line. It is still there but more dilapidated as would be expected with the passage of time. A very recent Youtube upload from two of our local historians has some video of it during it's working days. It can be found at; Memories of the Spalding - March line - 1982
Kind Regards,

Hi, Correction!!! The signal box is on the former GN & GE Joint Line. Not the former M & GN as I stated which ran to the south of Spalding and was also known as the "Muddle & Go Nowhere"
Kind Regards
