Haven't given it a full run-through yet, but I'm trying to get my head round the logic. I'm having trouble following the rules connected to 6Z99 - the SWT diversions all have rules that state "must not run if 6Z99 runs" which appears to give the opposite effect to that you are seeking. I can follow what you are doing with 6B12 - however, it will only enter 0% of the time if the "runs as required" box is checked.

What I have done is loaded a new game in developer mode with the start time box on the timetable tab of the new game screen adjusted, firstly to 05:20 and then 06:55 (i.e. neither 6B12 nor 6Z99 have run). Starting at 05:20, 1O02 entered from Yeovil at 05:21 which is exactly what I would expect because 6Z99 did not run and then starting at 06:55, 1S05 appeared at Athelney at 06:56 which is again as expected because 6B12 did not run. On that basis, it appears that the trains are appearing as specified by the rules; the problem for your purposes is then setting up the trigger trains so that they run to the pattern you require (making sure the "runs as required" box is checked) and then ensuring that the rules are applying the logic you expect - which appears not to be the case for the 6Z99 instances. I'll try and run through with the boxes checked to give it a proper work-out, but it will need 7 hours of sim time so report back may not be imminent.

Lot of waffle above, but to summarise, my understanding of your TT at this point is that if the trigger runs the others don't - and the trigger will always run unless the "runs as required" box is checked and something less than 100% entered as a parameter.

Finally, top marks for having a go and writing the TT. Things like this are all part of the development process and I'm sure the release version will offer hours of harmless amusement!

I need to check my facts on this but trains that should have entered (randomly) before the start time of a simulation will randomly either meet or not meet appropriate rules... um, I'll try to explain that a bit better if I've lost you!

In this case, neither or the trigger trains had the "run as required" box checked so they would have run had I started the sim earlier and the trains I saw at Yeovil and Athelney would not have entered. The randomness element would not have come into play (although that now raises the question about the sim assuming that a train which was TT'd to run earlier in the day did not run). Without this assumption, no train at Yeovil or Athelney.

Indeed Posty, my cock up on that one! Both triggers need to be set at 0% for the diverts to run. The rules confuse me, as i'm sure you've now seen! What a pillock i am.....

I too can start the game at anytime after the triggers would've entered and still get the diverts running, like you say, because the triggers obviously did not run. The only downside to that is, you then do not get all of the shunt moves in and around Westbury yards which happen through the night 'til around 8am, then continue again from about 10am 'til around 7pm.

Thanks for the praise too, this is the first full TT i've ever attempted, and so far, although it's been a struggle with trying to get my head around the rules and what-not, it's been fun. And i THINK it was your TT i played (Or was it you that re-uploaded it after the move?) that inspired me to write this one. Either way, the TT i refer to is named 'Westbury 22nd June 2005'. I thought that was a brilliant TT whoever wrote it, and a lot of the services (Mainly freight and the Cary extra's, and the idea of adding unit/loco numbers) you'll see are 'stolen' from that TT, obviously just re-timed to work between my passenger services, and renumbered to units/loco's which either, i've seen or i had references to that actually worked the diagrams from other research.

Thanks also for all the help so far, i was pulling my hair out when i found the diverts didn't work as expected, now i'm slowly breathing a sigh of relief!

Not my TT because I've never summoned up the intestinal fortitude to spend the hours necessary to create one! I copied across a lot of the stuff when the SimSig web-site was moved from one server to another which meant that a lot of the stuff posted by other TT creators ended up with comments posted under my name (although I did try to give the correct attribution where possible).

Hiya folks,

Right, because of Postal's brilliance and my epic dumbness we have sorted the problem with the TT.

I failed to mention in earlier posts, mainly because i didn't think it was relevant, that there was another train ruled to run, if 6B12 did not. THis was 5V99. If 5V99 ran, and 6B12 did not, because of the set rule (Train 6B12 must not run of 5V99 runs) SimSig ticks off 6B12 as having run, which then meant no matter which of the above two trains entered, my XC diversions would never have entered. I've deleted 5V99 from the TT and everything is now working as it should do!!

So, as promised... *Showers Posty in confetti and fireworks!*

Thanks for all your help mate, t'is much appreciated!! Thanks to everyone else who commented or made a suggestion too.

Now to add more....

All the best,

Simon.
