My son & I have for a few days been trying to connect two sims over the net. He in doncaster running Sheffield & me in sheffield running Trent .. we have tried every which way we can to run them together using the same timetable but on every occasion they cannot connect because the sever disconnects. We have used each others IP addresses, run one as a server & the other as a client but this only seems to allow the other party to play the same sim I have open ... can it actually be done Thanks in advance John Log in to reply |

Have you mastered simple multi-player first - instructions here? That's where you run a single Sim and the other person on the same Sim connects to you. I suggest that you establish if you can do that first as if it's a connection/port problem then you need to sort that out. If you can do M/Play then chaining is relatively easy; have you read the instructions on chaining? Peter I identify as half man half biscuit - crumbs! Have a look at WIKI page on chaining

Thanks for the gen guys which we have followed to a tee, however after many hours of trying this, trying that, all we ever get is the server disconnected you. We tried with anti virus & firewall off at both ends with same result. So idea shunted into a siding Log in to reply |

Sounds like port forwarding is not set up (correctly) for the server(s).

Most likely, and of course it is worth remembering that for a chain such as this then both servers will need to have the port forwarding set up correctly.
