Whilst writing this 1994-1995 Fenchurch Street timetable I've been cross referencing with the 0445 start 15/10/2009 timetable supplied with the sim regarding what locations to include in the timetable data for trains in case I miss any. However even with the options 'missing routes' & 'missing paths' both ticked when setting the options to load the sim, I'm struggling to get the Goods Line option for freight services going through Barking heading towards Ripple Lane & Dagenham. Several of the freight trains in that supplied timetable have the 'GL' shown, yet when to go into the edit mode of the timetable the only available option you see is 'ML'. How are you able to get the 'GL' option?

The junction to get on to the GL is after UR615 so it's off-sim really. The ML probably refers to the Upminster branch rather than the Tilbury branch.

I believe there used to be an *up* Goods Loop adjacent to platform 8 at Barking but can't find any evidence of it in IECC days.

OK Geoff thanks for that, but what puzzled me was that if you go into the timetable data for the 0445 start of the 2009 timetable supplied with the sim & going into the 'F4' screen which lists all of the trains in the timetable (604 in total). If you select any of the freight trains entering the sim at Woodgrange Park such as 7L22 you will see it is shown to go through platform 7 at Barking & then it shows 'GL' for the line the train goes out on. Yet whiilst writing this 1994-1995 timetable there isn't a 'GL' option for the Barking location, which leads me to believe 2 things, either I've missed something & as a result the 'GL' option doesn't appear(& yes I've also tried selecting the tabs which add the missing paths & routes) or the 2009 timetable was created on a version of Fenchurch Street which isn't the same as the released version. How do you get the 'GL' option at the Barking location?

I believe the TT was created by Ben W, and thus the data was imported into SimSig format with line codes from the NR TT data.

Could be done by entering the line/path data in the txt file from Condata, and converting back into wtt format.

Well that explains it Andy, thanks for that. I wondered if that was the case in respect that the 2009 timetable was created Condata.

Is there a publicly available version of Convdata or is there any other TT utility that will work with the new format of TTs?

Interesting. In the old days it was part of Barking box. But I suppose there's no reason the workstation boundaries should have anything to do with what was there before.

That would surprise me a little, as the Upminster route is just 2 tracks whereas of course there's the goods lines in & out of Ripple Lane on the Tilbury.

Indeed there was and the trackbed is still visible. I'm quite certain it was never part of the IECC; I've an idea it may have been abolished before the IECC was extended to cover Barking station area, but I'm not sure whether that was an independent job or simply part of the early enabling works for the resignalling. (Astonishingly, that's 20-odd years ago now and, as I live London side, I don't visit Barking that often, so I wasn't in terribly close touch with the progress of the resignalling.)

Certainly the loop was rarely used even by the early '80s when I was Station Supervisor at Barking; I have a vague notion I saw a train in there once but it would only ever have been the once and I really don't know why, as the service patterns by then made it pretty much superfluous. It would certainly have been a lot more useful in the early days of the 1960 resignalling, when freight heading for Woodgrange Park had to be threaded between occasional boat trains and excursions to & from St Pancras via the T&H line.

Ah, forgot it was a new format TT...maybe Ben can enlighten us?

It isn't a new format TT, SimSig will still quite happily load the older format.

And yes, it was generated from a digital copy of the timetable, which was inserted into a database for faster indexing, then outputted using some custom tools into a convdata text file, which was edited and used to generate the WTT. Nowhere in my flow do I ever need to convert it back as that can cause a loss of data.
