Hello all, I'm writing a set of 2015 TT's based in the 7th April, a standard TT with diverted freight that ran via Westbury instead of Reading West Curve which has been going in all week. This is based on RTT timings with realistic diagrams and personal observations (for Westbury mainly) Anyway what do people think on realistic delays? 2D05 from Weymouth to Bristol Parkway had an issue,it left Temple Meads 4 late but expired at Bristol East Jn and about half an hour later it went to Lawrence Hill and terminated there. What do you think if I added this into Bristol, after all the timetable is set to that specific day. Would you just get annoyed that you have a train sitting at Bristol East Jn for the best part of 30 minutes and that you'll never get a perfect score at the end? I'd like to add it for realism but if I upload it I'm not sure if I'd get complaints that there is always delays. There was also an issue with a HST at Westbury that left 10 minutes late as the TWPS failed and tripped it at the signal, again I could an this in. What are your thoughts? To be honest, I always prefer the delays to occur without warning - it might be a novelty the first time round, but it could get a bit tedious on any subsequent games with the timetable. I suggest you should play it safe and write the timetable in a 'vanilla' way, or, if you really want the true-to-life scenarios, make it a separate version.

Thinking aloud, could something be made to work using 2 trains as a pair, only one has a rule on the lines of must not leave X until y mins after arriving at X, and a percentage chance of one running or the other? Unless you're sneaky by peeking at the rules, you won't know which one of the pair is running until the rule shows up in F2.

Another way round this issue is to set the trains that failed or ran late due to correcting a fault would be to have them as alternatives. Similar for example if you were timetabling a MGR train & having 3 trains in the timetable all with different types of traction on the front. So each time you run the timetable you wouldn't necessarily get the same type of loco on the same train. I'm wondering whther you could create 2 trains one where the train fails & as a result terminates at the next station late & the other runs as booked & on time. That way each time you run the timetable you won't know which of the 2 scenarios you'd get.

Hi James I was thinking along the same lines as Andy and Pascal. Have two variants of 2D05 etc one scheduled to fail with the delays in and one clean running, and have rules to adjust the frequency of which enters. Link some of the failed trains together through the rules and you could cause a "nice" challenging chaotic situation around Bristol :whistle: HTH Gareth Log in to reply |

Hmm good idea that, however trying to get my head around how to work it! The thing is it's supposed to work with Westbury, which is almost fine as it's from Weymouth however the fact it's paired from Westbury is another matter to work around. The thing is the 150 works off 2C06 Bristol to Westbury, then it detaches from the 153 and runs to the Down Sdg as 5C06 then out as 5D05 to Westbury to couple with 2D05. So 2C06 would be the variable, so 2D05 would have to be as well, and would have to match with whatever 2C06 runs as...I think that's right.. Also, I suppose I could also enter delay values in the Incident Control Panel up to the value of the delay minutes services entered the area that day, as I believe if you have the delay sliders up this would randomly delay it up to the minutes entered in the box? The values in the box are applicable to the session being run only- start a new game, or load from a save, and they change to a new value.
