Where is Derby Way & Works Siding? 23/04/2015 at 13:59 #71373

In the 2009 release TT, starting from midnight, at 00:18 5D81 passes Down through Spondon, arrives at Derby Way & Works Siding at 00:24, waits 2 mins, then proceeds up the "TL" (whatever that is) through Derby, reversing at Chaddesden Curve, before terminating at Etches Park CS (Carriage Sidings).

Sorry I can't match the underlined bit to the panel. Can anyone give me clearer directions? I can see a "P.Way" but does this mean I have to reverse the train to enter DWWS?

TIA.

Way and works sidings are actually off sim where P'way sidings and research Sdg are located (way and works Sdgs 1, 2 &3).

for timetabling purposes, Way and Works Jcn (and sidings) is between DY425 and DY428.

for the timetable you've indicated, route from 422 to 428, then 428 to 458 on the down goods, then forwards onto Chad Curve.

TL (Through Line) for derby basically means it can be routed through any line, though normally the goods lines.

I've been meaning to update the manual to include these, done now.

'TL' stands for through line. Normally, this code is used where there's a non-platformed passenger line through the middle of the station, used by expresses, and it's meaning is obvious in this context. However, there's a slightly bizarre practice at Derby of using the code to indicate that the train isn't booked to use any specific line through the station. See here and here for discussion. In short, send it wherever you want as long as it gets to the right place on the other side.
