At 08:08:00 6D37, facing UP, is at Dunstalls LC (s89) and is scheduled as follows:
BURTON LEICESTER JN line GL
BURTON-ON-TRENT
BURTON WEST YARD

At Boultons LC (s95) I will need to route it to the Goods Line, but since this is marked and signalled only as a DN GOODS (there is no route available from BOULTONS s95 to even BOTLOS), my only answer is to route it UP the main line as far UP as s183, just before CLAY MILLS JN, then manually set the points behind it back to BURTON WEST YARD, then signal it to reverse back into the yard. What a turkey.

Surely there has to be a better way than this. And what's with this BOARD LIT button at the UP entry to BURTON WEST YARD that isn't mentioned anywhere in the manual? Aaargh.

6D37 is a timetable error and has a location missing.

Here is the solution so others don't have to hunt through this long thread to find it.

Quote:
6D37 appears to have some locations missing- approaching from Kingsbury, it's booked straight from Burton-on-Trent to Burton West Yard, which is impossible without a reversal. Adding the location 'Burton Wetmore Jn' solves the problem.
Oh...I...get...it (penny drops). I didn't notice there was a separate UP GOODS line we were expected to use, going past the WETMORE siding. But that's not enough information. Do you mean I have to route it as far as the warner signal (yellow triangle) just before s181 (before CLAY MILLS JN) then it will automatically know to reverse from DN-facing s172 into the Yard? or do I need to add some other stuff to this TT entry?

Hopefully the next version of this otherwise reasonably good TT will have this mistake fixed.

And again, what's the purpose of this this BOARD LIT button at the UP entry to BURTON WEST YARD that isn't mentioned anywhere in the manual, please?

When 6D37 calls in waiting at 181, reverse its direction and it will propel into West Yard. It won't know to reverse itself as the timetable location Burton Wetmore Jn is missing.

Off the top of my head I would say the Board Lit sign refers to a stop board, but I don't think it is anything to be concerned about.

The 'Board Lit' is just an indicator to confirm the lighting on a Stop Board is working; the equivalent of lamp proving to a stop signal.
I can only help one person a day. Today's not your day. Tomorrow doesn't look too good either.

Is it part of the West Yard entry (most likely) or the Down Goods line? And how dows it help us? Should we try turning it on or off or is this beyond the signaller's control?

Its part of the Yard, trains have to stop at it and await shunters instructions, its not there to help the Derby signaller except to inform him/her that the board is lit, you cannot turn it off.

You might want to get your eyes tested- the exit arrow is white, not yellow. The arrow is used to set a shunt route towards signal 181. It's used in conjunction with the locking release on 169/170, see the Wiki for details, although you won't need to use it on the default TT.

Yes you're right - the BOARD LIT is white, not yellow. Sorry to add to confusion. Must get my dogaracts fixed.
