Just a question. what is the point of the UID, I have been trying to wrap my brain round it, but all I can see is it seems to be more hassle to use them that need be, I mean when i was playing wimbledon not so long back, trains that were approaching waterloo were waiting for trains that were nowhere near due to arrive as a result of the exit headcode and UID being the same as one due to enter some time much later, it just seems that the UID adds another level of complication.

The UID's are not mandatory, they are used by network rail to give every train a unique ID. This means that if anyone uses a Network Rail CIF to import a timetable, it will utilise UID's as well as headcodes.

The point of them is exactly as it says on the tin - Unique IDentifier

As to your partcular issue with Wimbledon I've not encountered this in testing (I wrote the default TT), however its possible that changes to the loader have inadvertently broken the functionality.

Can you go into any more specific detail as to the exact issues encountered on Wimbledon so that I can investigate further. There's no reason the loop trains (which have the same UID to prevent them re-entering while the earlier version is in sim) should cause any issues, and a 24h playthrough was achieved pre release with no problems encountered.

They come in handy when writing timetables that chain, especially where headcodes crop up more than once- I've written a set for the West Midlands simulations that would've been a nightmare where headcodes aren't duplicated on one sim but are on another. UIDs makes the whole thing a lot easier and reduces the chance of a train picking up the wrong timetable when transferring between simulations in a chain.

That said, they shouldn't impact on someone who isn't editing the timetable- if you've found them to be giving problems, it's likely to be a bug.

With regards to the TT displaying for the wrong train I have encountered a similar issue on Saltley with the default TT where there are several occasions on which 1Gxx trains are duplicated; the system thus only displays one TT for both trains (though the programme knows which is which). Because the UIDs have altered the previous method of suffixing TDs there is no way of tricking the system to display the correct timetable.
There's the right way, the wrong way and the railway.

I cannot remember the specific train(s) at this time, will get that info in time, I play in full ARS as playing solo I had a train at sig 2, clear platform for the train to go into but would not set route as it was given priority to a train that was on way out of sim, and not due back for ages.

also i have noticed that when doing a tt analysis you tend to get a lot more joining train got lost or never runs but refered to (this is not just unique to wimbledon) even though from what i can see of affected trains they both/all show correct platforms.

To clarify: this should only be a problem if two trains with the same headcode are in the sim at the same time. It's on the list to fix.

Not Sure why but, I am no longer getting that issue, I can only guess that the lastest loader has fixed it in someway
