Timetable fail - and a SwinDid bug? 24/08/2015 at 23:55 #75435

Evening all,

Going through the errors on my Bathampton Junction TT (SwinDid sim) and hit on an interesting one.

For the Swindon - Portsmouth Harbour services you can put timetable entries on the SwinDid sim as far as Trowbridge - there is no Westbury option. However the sim has decided it doesn't like this and now it thinks I am using Trowbridge as a terminus which, of course, I am not. Therefore I have all my Swindon - Portsmouth trains with errors.

Any idea how to work around this one? Westbury is not on the destinations list for SwinDid TT editing which leads me to think there is a bug with the SwinDid sim.

When I started going through the errors I had 228 problems (59 errors, 169 warnings) and have managed to fix a few already but I would appreciate help on this before I let my tester have it: I know I have kept you all waiting long enough for this TT, which has 460 trains. Any ideas?

Screenshots attached.

Cheers,
Dave

Have you tried it with Bradford Jn as the last location? IIRC Bradford Jn is the last location in the default TT...

Sounds about right given other timetables work.

I haven't tried that given the TT is meant to be played as a chain with Westbury. It surprises me that it won't take Trowbridge as a stop though.

It doesn't matter. The last location should be Bradford Jn, and Westbury-bound trains 'fall off' the simulation there.

When chained the train transfers between Sims somewhere on the branch line after Thingly and before Bradford (not sure off hand where Melksham is relative to transfer). After transfer the train is no longer on SwinDid but on Westbury (or vv). Visually it looks like it is on both but in reality it's on one or the other.

F2 will tell you which as will the message report on transfer.

Dave,

You don't need to be concerned about the chaining, the sims will deal with that. Your TT"s simply need to be written as if the sims were going to be run in for standalone mode. They could be used that way after all, regardless of whether they should be chained or not.

Once that's done, to make them work when the sims are chained, simply make sure any trains crossing the boundary from one sim to the other have matching trains in both TT's with suitable timing. Should be relateively easy.
