A quick heads-up for anyone planning on attending the Derby meet by train.

I have just run a quick search for any operators who run services through Derby and found the following engineering works for Saturday 14th November:

- Between Bedford and Kettering, Leicester and East Midlands Parkway: various line closures affecting services run by East Midlands Trains.

- Between Ebbw Vale and Newport / Cardiff: all lines closed affecting ATW (TAC), CrossCountry and GWR.

- Between Brockenhurst and Bournemouth: no service between Southampton Central and Bournemouth. Affects SWT and XC. Not sure if anyone will come from this far by train but putting it in just in case.

Journeys between Bristol, Birmingham NS and Derby should run with no problems.

HTIOU.

For those who don't live South of Derby, the ECML is also blockaded between Edinburgh and Newcastle. Anyone using that part of the ECML will have problems.

Some of the trains diverted via Carlisle are timed for Class 91s, so presumably drags are on.

Timing load bears no relevance to actual load on the day.

Actually they're fairly accurate for VTEC and VTWC as you must have read plenty of times over on Rail UK

"Passengers for New Lane, should be seated in the rear coach of the train " - Opinions are my own and not those of my employer

Although I doubt that there will be much shunting and re-configuring of fixed-consist trains.

They need to be accurate for the EC ticketing system where you can choose your seat but the layout is different between the stock. Clearly something can go wrong on the day or earlier in the diagram causing the stock to be substituted.

Nope, they'll just tack a loco (usually a 67) on the front.

As with these blocks everything to & from Scotland will be formed of HST sets, with the exception of;

1E06 06:50 Glasgow Central - London Kings Cross (CAR 0943-1008 + NCL 1145/1200)
1S13 11:00 London Kings Cross - Edinburgh Waverley (NCL 1604/1622 + CAR 1349/1431)

These trains are formed of Cl.91+9+Mk4 DVT & will be hauled by a Class 67 across the Tyne Valley in both directions.

Which by spooky coincidence is what RTT says - though what about 1E27 which appears to be the return working of 1S13?

I'm not sure RTT will give a time 2 hours earlier at Carlisle than Newcastle for a London - Edinburgh service.

I did not notice that one when I checked the system at work, but yes, 1E27 is a Cl.91+9+Mk4 DVT. Could be a fresh set, could be the same set returning. I will try and dig out past diversion info I have (if I still have it).

Between Derby & London looking at ROTR/EAS for week 34 it seems to be:

SAT OK daytime
SUN slow line blocks around Cricklewood, minor retimings needed for that.

2200 SAT - 0500 MON Leicester - East Mid Parkway bus (Bridge works at Syston for electrification and gauge enhancements to Stoke)
