I just bought Horsham1_0_1.exe and it will not oad, nor show up in the SimSig loader, can anyone help!?
I had no difficulty with Brighton, nor Oxted, and the Portsmouth Demo, and I'm running a Win8 system.

That file is the installer, can you first confirm whether your issue is loading/running that file?

I'm not able to see an installer, other than the loader. The only additional SimSIg icon I have is a SimSig Licence manager, am I missing something!!?

The .exe is the installer: run that.

Ah, ok, well, that file is not loading, (I have downloaded this 4 times, and everyone of them doesn't load or run!) and the only other file I can see is the SimSig licence manager.

Check if your antivirus is blocking it.

Thanks all, I have an error when loading the licence manager bit of the .exe file, showing as a 'code 5' error. I cannot procedd beyond this, and I have something open in 'System' which I cannot locate.
So, I will resist going any further, and not use SimSig anymore!
Thanks again.

Error code 5 would be very unusual. Can you attach a screenshot of this please? And the 'System' thing you mention - is that in task manager or something else?

What did you find out when you checked your antivirus?

Hi Geoff, I have removed all traces of Simsig, rebooted, and redownloaded, and have the same issues...
I can load these as Admin, but the Horsham exe hangs my system. I'll try again, and include a ss if i can! Will get back to you later.

Thanks.

We don't want you to give up but you do need to help us to help you. You keep mentioning a program but don't say in all instances whether it's the Horsham installer, the Loader, or the License Manager. If you tell us what antivirus program you use then perhaps somebody can help you identify whether that is blocking net connections.

You said in the original post that you have installed Brighton amongst others, has that installed again OK and can you run it and have train run etc?

I and others have tried installing Horsham in the last day or so and it looks like it's worked as expected for us.

So assuming the answer to the first question is yes then it does indeed look a bit odd.

At the end of the day all the installer does is install the Horsham.sim, the default timetables and splash screens. I guess we could just email you the files and you install them manually.

Thanks Peter and Geoff!
I am totally bemused as to why Horsham won't load, and I would like to try, but I'm not totally compuetr savvy, and I lost patience yesterday evening!
I will try Horsham again, and let you know how I get on. i was doing quite well with Brighton, I had 98% by 20:00 on Performance, and really enjoyed it.
I will let you know how I get on.
***UPDATE**
I have downloaded a fresh install of Horsham and the Loader. the loader runs ok, but Horsham doesn't show as an available sim, and If I try to run Horsham, as an Admin on my PC, nothing happens, other than the WIn 8 folder I have the program in freezes.
I really am sorry if something I am doing is causing this!

When you say "run Horsham"- is this the file that you've downloaded, called "Horsham1_0_1.exe"?

Have you run a search for horsham.sim to at least find if it's installed and if so where.

Let's try and understand what you are doing and what is happening. With the exception of a few old sims, everything now runs through the loader and the .exe files are not the files that run the sim. When you install the system files you put the Loader and Licence Manager onto your computer and a few background files so that the sims will display correctly etc. When you download a sim from the Downloads section you get an .exe file which is the installer to make the sim available for the loader.

That means that when you run the Horsham.exe file, you should get a screen telling you where the Horsham sim file is going to be installed on your machine and after you OK that the simulation and timetable files are unpacked and put onto your machine. Clicking the horsham.exe file does not run the sim but it should install it. The actual simulation is a .sim file like brighton.sim or horsham.sim and this file will only run through the Loader.

Because SimSig is not a mass-market program a number of anti-virus programs do not recognise the SimSig simulation installation files and block them for fear they are malware. This has given a number of posters on earlier threads in the forum the same sort of problems as you are having. The problems have happened to other posters even after they have installed some sims without any bother, presumably because the continual updating of anti-virus programs has introduced something that took offence at SimSig although it was not blocked previously.

If you can find your way round your anti-virus to add an exception for horsham.exe or you can disable the anti-virus temporarily while the sim installs, you may find that things will work as expected. You should not need to run the sim installer as an administrator when things are working properly.

Apologies if you have already got that far and things aren't working. If you haven't got that far, have a go and let us know how things have gone.

Hi everyone.... first, thanks for sticking with me!

I have finally got Horsham to work, after reloading Win 8, changing my Anti-viral medication, and gently trying a 24 hour 'Southampton' - this is my celebration! ( Woo woo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

I'm going to settle down, and work through ths - thanks again all!
