Odd signal lamp failure issue 16/01/2016 at 11:05 #79896

Hi, not sure if this issue is specific to Bristol or not.

I have a signal lamp failure of BP2 (near Worle Junction) where I think the amber and green lamps aren't working but the red is. It's an automated signal so I can't force it to stay on red. The lamp has failed so as it tries to set to amber it goes out. I have a train behind it at BP0 which when the lamp is unlit is red. BP2 is then turning red of its own accord, which causes BP0 to go amber. BP2 then automatically tries to go amber, which makes it unlit and resets BP0 to red and so it is stuck in an endless loop of resetting.

I can't find a way to make it stop going round the loop and my train at BP0 never calls in because it doesn't stay red for long enough before it goes amber. I just get endless '1V76 received an adverse change of aspect at signal BP0' messages and penalties for routes cancelled with trains approaching.

Any advice?!

That may be something to do with the automatic functions provided to replicate the real-live Puxton and Worle Crossing Box.

Not sure there is a lot you can do with that other than wait for the signal to be fixed.

Not prototypical, but you could use the Incident Control Panel to create a TCF in the section beyond BP2 which would hold BP2 permanently at red. With the signal failure giving a dark signal at BP2 for any aspect but red, you would have to talk any trains past BP2 anyway so operationally there is no additional impact.

Sadly you can't do that, as Bristol doesn't have the incident control panel feature.

Oops. It might have when it is revisited for the loader!

Hopefully so - I'll admit that my first reaction was to use the incident panel to try and simulate it, and sat there for several seconds hitting F11 wondering if my keyboard had broken!

In those days what became the ICP was only in development builds, not release ones.
