I have a query regarding the writing and running of a timetable for both Central and South Eastern so that they will chain together successfully.

Do you have to write into the South Eastern timetable trains that leave Central on the slow lines. Reason why I ask is demonstrated by the attached save.
Service 1D02-1 London Victoria to Gatwick uses the slow lines from Central but is shown on the fringes of South Eastern when it first leaves Central. As it does so the South Eastern sim reports invalid timetable. I think this maybe because I have not entered 1D02-1 schedule into the South Eastern timetable.
I have tried running it with the timetable entered into both Central and South Eastern but South Eastern then reports entering off planned route.

Any ideas because entering all slow line departures from Central into the South Eastern timetable would take rather a long time and may not be necessary.

As usual it is probably me doing it wrong..... B)

When I read this yesterday I thought that you meant trains crossing to/from Central/SouthEastern in the station throat. But re-reading it I think the answer is "no, you don't need to include Central trains in SE's timetable."

However, that should not prevent you from entering the Central trains if you wish to do so.

As you noticed, there could be an issue if, when chained, SE's ARS sees the Central trains and alarms if it can't find a timetable for them. I need to think about this.

Thanks for that Geoff and yes you are right in your later understanding. South East's ARS does seem to alarm without the timetable being entered and that appears to be for all trains leaving Central on the slow line. If you do include these trains from Central for each you get the message entering off planned path always again assuming that you are also using ARS.
There is obviously no problem if you run each sim individually.

You would also have the added issue of trains that are meant to use the fast lines in Central being routed onto the slow lines, for example, to avoid a track circuit failure. Adding only slow line trains to the South Eastern timetable still wouldn’t completely cover the potential issues here, I’m afraid.

As for a solution…err…

Had not thought of that. Seems to be a bigger problem than I first thought.

Other than ARS alarms and other simulation messages, does the problem actually affect the operation of the simulation?

When the two are chained together it does affect the operation of the sim from the point that you will keep getting the messages appearing in the message box. As you can imagine for a sim such as this then that would be a few hundred tines. Rather annoying I would have thought getting a message every few minutes.
