Just authorised a user to cross Cardells crossing using the 1977 re-released WTT (forum release).

The only train in the area was a class 4 which was a safe distance away; it wasn't possible to add further protection to the crossing as the signals prior have no replacement function. I received the 'Oi!' phone call when the class 4 was still a signal section away, at signal 317.

The train was not 1N42 in the image, that was clear when I received the phone call.

There's the right way, the wrong way and the railway.

This is a generic issue, not a Peterborough-specific one. It happens at all MWL crossings.

The road user will phone in as soon as the MWL turns red, which is at least 30 seconds before the train would arrive at the crossing (exactly how much will depend on which track circuits trigger the red light).

If there isn't a protecting signal nearby, you need to use one further back!

The MWL explanation makes sense; though I'd argue that when the crossing is in use the lights wouldn't be seen.

The protecting signals issue wasn't a complaint, I was merely trying to justify why I let the user cross - which was clearly a bad judgement!

I have just had this happen to me at Lindsells crossing - See attached save. 6B30 was the 'offender' although it was TT'd to reverse at Sandy South. I'm guessing that it was because I didn't use the emergency replacement on K776?

One thing that came up was that after chastising me for not warning them, the user did not say whether they wished to still use the crossing. The dialog box seemed to be missing 'Sorry, please cross now', 'Sorry, please call back after next train' or 'Sorry, please call back in 5 mins'.

TIA

I see your point. I would consider it a "Oi, I've crossed now, but that was a close call" for the time being. Mantis 20925.
