I was busy editing my website ([www.newrailtours.webs.com]) when I saw an inappropriate comment made to me along the lines of 'You f****** idiot, why don't you know how to set up PayPal?' (My website advertises railtours, however, no PayPal was linked because, as clearly stated in the FAQs section of the website (Under 'Testimonials'payment could only be by Bank Transfer around 21 days prior to departure. I replied telling him the information, as well as reporting him to Webs. The guy (probably some poorly paid guy half way around the world. Sorry if anyone was offended.) Replied something similar to 'None of my business!'

If any of you have similar experiences please let me know.

Of course, I am not saying Webs is bad, I am just asking 'Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?'

Just to be clear, are you saying the inappropriate comment came from a Webs employee?

While I appreciate you may be a new start-up with not everything set up yet, it's only fair to remind my users that they should be looking for guarantees of some sort before handing over lots of money - not words on a website but things like ABTA-bonded, IATA, protection offered by credit card purchases, etc. Bank transfers offer precious little protection.

Customers are fickle and you can't please all of them - you have to be thick-skinned and deal with the comments you'll get, that's rule 1 in any customer facing environment - be it face-to-face or online.

That said - if you asked me to fork out 4 grand and then told me I could only pay by bank transfer; Alarm bells would be ringing and I'd take my business elsewhere.

What happens if something goes wrong?

Whilst we are committed to offering the best service possible, during travelling there will occasionally be an unexpected situation which is unavoidable. As we are a small tour operator, we book a fair amount of our activities and transport through public websites, and so we are more prone to being affected by the world around us (E.g. Charter flights are less likely to be affected during a pilots' strike when compared to normal, scheduled fights. If, however the problem is of our causing (E.g. Not booking enough tickets etc.)
Feel free to email us and request a partial refund* and make a review if you so wish.

*We are currently only able to offer refunds for the part of the trip you were unhappy about because of our current size. In future we hope to offer full refunds if necessary.

So you don't book enough tickets for people booked onto your tour after paying £3500 and you only give a partial refund?!

You have a website for a company, without any company information, it doesn't even have its own domain, and then you want people to pay you £3500 by BANK TRANSFER!?

I'm afraid it's a no from me.

As a bank/building society employee alarm bells ring when a customer is asked to make a bank transfer to any company. Zero chance of a guaranteed recall on the payment. its all too common to see customers duped into making transfers without buyer protection, and end up out of pocket.

At the minimum there should be the option for card payments which can be disputed/ charged back and preferably an option for pay-pal which offers excellent buyer protection.

Which is probably why this guy doesn't do it!

Think that probably enough on the matter.
It's not clear (at least to me) what the first post was about and I think we are now pushing at the boundaries of Code of Conduct 5 and possible part of 6.
