Whoops, it couldn't happen here could it? (So we were told!) There is plenty of overtime for the response teams on the ECML north of Peterborough - the CCTV feeds from many of the level crossings have gone down! All staff are out and signalling instructions are going through on mobile phone links when crossings are clear! The barriers are taking ages to go up! ( Just like any other day at Tallington really! ) Bah - Humbugs anyone? Ken....^o Log in to reply |

I've never believed anyone who says "it cannot happen here". A new scenario for Sim Sig though....or is it already in there and I just haven't had it yet. Geoff :: Log in to reply |

northroad, I too have never had that scenario...probably because it's not something that will yet happen in SimSig. By that, I mean that I expect the SimSig team haven't coded any sims to come up with such an error. Then again, if the "FAI" (for 'Failed'  light flashes on a crossing, I suppose you could at least imagine that the CCTV has failed.That said, I can imagine it would be possible for sims (i.e: Peterborough) to be coded with a "Tallington Level Crossing CCTV Failed" message and then you would have to stop all trains before the crossing and wait for the driver to phone you, at which point you could use a [new] reply which said "Level Crossing CCTV Failure at next level crossing, please proceed with caution" or something similar to that effect. UK TrainMan. I have learnt that with those fiendish Sim Sig programmers you should always expect a scenario that you would not expect to crop up....tea trolleys and all...as well as the ones that you might expect. Yep, indeed only yesterday I was playing Sheffield with the new 1986 TT and had an ECS working delayed at TY423 (Reverse) due to the wrong type of food trolley. I can only guess it must have completely blocked the corridor so the driver had to dismount and walk along the track to reach the far cab! :lol: (Great TT, BTW!) Log in to reply |
