I had a chance to sit down with the excellent Peterborough sim for a few hours (thanks GM,PB et al) today and I used ARS to set the routes so I could monitor the traffic and make adjustments as neccessary.

Instead of making trains non-ARS or cancelling ARS subareas if I'd like to manually resolve a conflict I normally collar the signals I do not want ARS to set routes across, which means using the Reminder Override function rather a lot.

A keyboard shortcut (like the already implemented i for TD interpose) would be helpful.

You mean like pressing 'r' for instance then setting the route?

I dare say it's do-able. I do prefer to use the 'ROV' buttons as it's closer to what would be done on the real thing. Just my opinion though.

TomOF,

Excactly, though I would prefer o (as in Reminder Override).

I agree with you on your point regarding realism, it would however be a nice option to have available in the simulator.

It also maybe a safety feature- if you m ake it to easy to overide you might do it by accident.

I think use of collars for routine traffic reminders would probably be discouraged. Their primary use is for safety and if people are too used to overriding them the day will come when they just do it automatically and a train runs into a block under greens.
