Nene CS acceptance - has anything changed? 24/01/2018 at 17:44 #105415

Hi all,

The way this used to work was that if there was a train in either P4 or P5 then a request to enter could be made to Nene CS which was usually accepted and a train entered normally.

In the attached example and save, 5E74 is in P5 unloading when 0D16 comes off the shed for Nene CS.

With 0D16 standing on the Yard Shunt Line reversing and 5E74 in P5, I offer it to Nene CS, it is accepted but on entry an "unexpected train" message is generated.

It is repeatable and not just with this example, there were others in the latest test I did. Run the save from 0345, the engine comes off the shed around 0400, with it standing on the yard reversible, offer it to Nene CS. It is accepted but the "unexpected train" message is generated.

I usually have "calls to Nene CS" switched off when timetable testing but this time I left it on. I have really no idea when it first started but this is using Loader 4.6.9.

Also something else which I didn't capture, seems to be trains being offered out by Nene CS with accepted trains already en route into the siding.

Has something changed here?

Vince

Did you offer 5E74 to Nene C.S. as 0D16 was traveling to or just inside the C.S. ie: before 0D16 had fully entered the C.S.

If I understand what you have done, you had 5E74 on P5 rung Nene for that train while 0D16 was on yard rev (sig 86) you signalled 0D16 to P4 then once 0D16 arrived P4 rung Nene to allow 0D16 in.

No Mark.

With 0D16 on the yard shunt line reversing and 5E74 in P5, offer 0D16 to Nene CS.

It is accepted. Then run 0D16 via P4 into Nene CS

"Unexpected Train" message is generated

That message accured due to the train not being in P4 or 5 when the call was made, any phone call for Nene the train needs to be in one of the 2 platforms at the time of the call. having 5E74 in P5 allowed the request/message to show Can train enter? if 5E74 had not been in P5 that option would not of been there at all.

I discussed the way trains were accepted with Clive ages ago and unless I got the wrong end of the stick (which is far from impossible) I was given to understand that as long as the t/c in either P4 or P5 was occupied then the "can train enter" box would be populated and a train could be offered.

In any event the "unexpected train" message should not be generated after the train has been offered and accepted.

I'm pretty sure this was how it worked in the past, so that's why I asked the question "has anything changed?"

In the case with your session 5E74 was occupying the TC in P5 therefore that should of been the only train to have been accepted, the TC being occupied allows the "Can train enter?" to show, however when you called for 0D16, it seems to have allowed it, maybe in error. I have logged a report for it to be looked in to (#0019527) as it seems the shunter can says yes but be suprise the the train that was called and accepted outside of P4 or 5 and therefore the reply form shunter needs to be expanded.

Nothing has changed in a good long while - 4.1.3 was released in June, IIRC. However, it looks like you've managed to come up with a situation I didn't think of when testing.

That Mantis entry is now there, so I'll figure out what to do in my copious free time.

Clive,

Thanks for this - its no biggie and stems from my misunderstanding of how it should work. I was clearly trying to be to be too clever for my own good.

I'm sure you'll find time in your crowded social calender to fit it all in!

Regards,

Vince
