You guys should add an option for a sound in Options>Message>Play Sound for the telephone to start ringing and playing a sound. I lose a lot of time cause I never notice the phone going off for about 3 minutes causing delays

There is an option in the F3 menu?

Under messages an general telephone message

"We don't stop camborne wednesdays"

As JC92 has said.

F3 > Messages. There's a drop-down window with a "Browse" button next to it. That is where you set up sounds for individual in-game instances.

The Welsh contingent. Aron, or Ar to mates. Also known as 88E or ThatManCalledAr.

I personally would like to see a default ring which is instantly inputted and then put a sounds options. Most of the incidents don't require sounds. For example passing a point early or late. The only ones which really need any kind of sound are phone ringing train entering section and slots. I don't think many people change the colors of the incident texts etc so why not just rid that whole are and replace it with 'phone ringing', 'slot given', 'train entering system' with a tick box for play sound and also a path box so we can (if we wish) change the sound.

This would save us all downloading the sounds and working out how to change them. Minor change but makes everything a lot easier.

I've raised a request on the bug tracker for a phone ringing and 'train entering area' sound to be included and enabled by default (#23549).

That's very much your personal opinion and preference. I've set up sounds and popup boxes for various other messages, and I'm sure everyone else has their own set-up customised to their preferences.

An inherently bad idea to have sounds enabled by default. They are not core to SimSig and there are many users who use the sims in an environment where sounds are not welcome. By all means simplify the process for being able to hear the sounds but can we have add-ons to the core product as that rather than as default which users have to turn off.

Personally I think the existing opt-in mechanism is better. Setting up the sounds really isn’t difficult for those that want them; and they have a choice of whatever sound file they wish for those messages.

I use that one too. There are plenty of sounds in C:\Windows\media

Is it possible for SimSig to set default sounds when installed, but not enable the actual noise so that new users don't have to go hunting around for stuff?
