A reminder that the next meet will take place at The Crystal Palace, Jamaica Street, Glasgow G1 4QD in a fortnight's time on Saturday 8th. September, commencing at 12:00 noon (although the venue will be open from early morning for those who want the Wetherspoons' breakfast). Details can be found at this page of the Wiki. If you wish to attend and haven't already signed up, you can do that here.

At the time of writing, 12 people have signed up to attend. No idea what sims will be made available for multiplay as yet (but the scale of the operation will depend on how many people attend). Subject to any last-minute hold-ups, there will be one sim available that has not been publicly released thus far; a second sim will also be running which may be one which has already been released or may be another surprise. We'll all find out more on the day.

A number of branded "Scottish SimSig" scarves will be available on the day of the meet for a cost of £13 each.

If any are left over after the meet they will be available on a first come first serve basis.

I recall seeing Clive wearing a SimSig polo shirt at the Swindon Panel open day.

Are those available to purchase by any chance?

With hope Northern/RMT will finally 'talk' to resolve the matter and in hope the strikes been called off each Saturday during September.
I shall be arriving into Glasgow Central approx 1115-1120 that morning and leaving on the 1800 departure. I will bringing my fathers laptop to be able to join in with the hosts etc. I maybe the last person to arrive as I'm coming from Poulton-Le-Fylde near Blackpool etc. Looking forward to seeing you all, playing sims and a few drinks too.

We meet in a week's time and it is not looking good for those who are superstitious. There are currently 13 people signed up to attend so we need at least one more to come and spend a whole day sitting in a Wetherspoons. I know that is a demanding task but sometimes people have to make sacrifices for the common good.

PS Having been born on Friday 13th. in Bed 13 in the ward, triskaidekaphobia has never been a problem for me!

I hate to say this but again Northern Strike Timetable for 8 September has crippled my chances of getting to/from Preston for start!!
I have a booked Advanced Ticket for 0845 Preston to Glasgow 1115 VWC Service, but first train off Blackpool North is 0838 'Charming' I get back to Preston for around 2015 and guess what last time to Blackpool North 1932 'Hype'

I'm working out how I'm going to get to/from Preston at present, I do know that Northern/RMT are scheduled to talk this week but unknown which date. I'm praying the strikes drop and they achieve some agreement talks etc. If the strikes don't drop and I don't find a way of getting to/from Preston then sadly I won't be attending which is a great shame as I'm looking forward to this etc. I'll Keep posted for now I'll remain as attending..

Hmmm I wonder. Can't help thinking that Glasgow Central would be fun if it was a possibility but I am not aware if this has been in development.

Don't forget that you can claim for consequential loss, such as a taxi, under the Consumer Rights Act. Also if you paid by Credit Card, you can claim the compensation from the Credit Card Company if you get no joy from Northern Rail.

If we are in Glasgow, maybe the Clockwork Orange would be a good sim. The July 2016 TT would be cracking.

Northern/RMT/ACAS are in talks Friday for a resolution. I'm hoping they have agreements etc. News will be about late afternoon from RMT if the strikes are been called off. If they are its good news all round meaning I can get my trains.
If no resolution I won't be coming along to Glasgow and will be claiming back on the tickets I didn't use etc.

That’d be a shame Aaron, did you see postal’s note about bus services to Preston? There seemed to be plenty of options to get you there for your train?

I didn't see Postals post about using buses until now.. Seems some of the messages in the forum has moved etc.

Travelling via bus isn't my favorable option, in fact I try and avoid using buses. Sadly I had to use the BTS Buses on my line from Nov 2017 to April 2018, they weren't too bad on RRBs.

I have a plan in place for now and hoping to be dropped off at Preston for 8am and collected at 8.30pm when I'm back at Preston.
My other alternative is await news from RMT about the strikes which I'm praying for.
Last alternative is to use the said bus service that postal mentioned.

There are about 14 people but not 14 laptops.
