Evening all,

A quick query. I am considering doing a timetable for one or two of the Midlands sims to take into account the train changes for services through Birmingham, Coventry and Rugby which will take effect in May this year. One of the sims I plan to do a TT for is Rugby Centre which is used by trains for Euston that come in from both Nuneaton and Coventry.

The changes around the Birmingham area will, in summary, see the LNR (ex. London Midland) services between Rugeley Trent Valley / Crewe (via. Wolverhampton) / Liverpool Lime Street and Birmingham New Street now mostly running through to Birmingham International with some continuing beyond to Coventry and London Euston as shown here for Birmingham New Street on 21st May 2019 - http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/search/advanced/BHM/2019/05/21/0000-2359?stp=WVS&show=all&order=wtt - and to use Class 350 EMUs due from Trans Pennine Express where they are being replaced by Class 397s.

Anyway in order to distinguish between the trains (for the benefit of anyone not familiar with the area as some of us) I would propose, for a Rugby Centre timetable, to do train descriptions as shown in the attached files (which show timings taken from OpenTrainTimes for 21st May). But if I did this then would I have to do the descriptions the same way across all sims for which I do timetables? If not then the "via" bit would not be used on the Coventry and Birmingham New Street sims.

In the screenshots I am only doing the traction as examples: I don't actually know how many carriages will be in each Class 350 set on the new diagrams.

Apologies if this is a daft question but I have no idea.

Dave

You can change the description per sim as you see fit as long as the TD, UID and characteristics like length and traction matter you won't have any problems.

Up to the OP but in the description would it not be easier to just say Via Nuneaton/Via Coventry?

Or is my OCD kicking in again?

@ajax103: I second that, I even think it's fine to assume that any West coast service to Euston that does not mention Birmingham or Stoke-on-Trent takes the Stafford-Lichfield-Nuneaton route. (Whether it calls at any of those stations is a different matter.)

Ultimately it’s your timetable Dave, you put the descriptions as you see fit - the locations in the timetable itself will distinguish those that go via Birmingham and those that don’t.
